On a certain day, I went to the Pharmacy with my course mate to buy drugs for her baby. On getting there we met a very long queue and we had to wait. On waiting I got interested on a conversation going on between the Pharmacist and a plus size girl. She told the man to give her a slimming tablet that will help to reduce her weight within one week. The man told her that he doesn't sell such and advised her aganist taking those drugs. He went on to tell her about the side effect that comes with taking those drugs.

The Pharmacist told me that they see that on a daily basis and that various people come to the Pharmacy to request for drugs to enlarge their buttock, breast, and to add weight.
The girl narrated her ordeal to me. She told me how she was called names, insulted and body shamed by various people because of her size and how it affected her self esteem. She went on to narrate how she starved and skipped meals just to get the desired body shape all to no avail.

After her story, I made her to understand that nobody has it all and that she should learn to accept what she cannot change, also she should surround herself with people who loves and appreciate her. I made her to understand that there are various healthy ways to lose weight and get her self esteem back such as exercise and healthy eating. Afterwards she left home very happy.

On reaching home, I began to ponder on this girls story about low self esteem. I understood what people pass through when people make jest of then because of their body nature. Low self esteem is very bad and can lead to depression, it makes you to see yourself as not being enough and our society doesn't make it easy when it comes to criticism. Alot of things can cause low self esteem, some of them includes.

Body shape and size

Skin colour

Difficulty in learning

Sexual abuse

Negative thoughts

Unhealthy comparison

TIPS FOR BUILDING SELF ESTEEM
Love your self first.(Nobody loves you more than yourself).

Do what makes you happy.

Always think positively about yourself.

Eat healthy.

Surrounded yourself with people who loves and appreciate you.

Engage in sports and healthy outdoor activities.

Listen to good music.

See a therapist if the need arises.

CONCLUSION
Encourage some one going through low self esteem, encourage them through your words and actions. Show them love and if you're in the habit of making jest of people due to their nature stop doing that. We should also learn to accept what we can't change. If you love your self the way you're it will go a long way in boasting your self esteem.
