Anticipation before welcoming a wonderful gift to the world

I have not posted in some time. I have been very busy with taking over more of the roles at the beach resort I manage and doing an audit and sorting out some problems with the prior accountant. Also in my last post I updated that my mother in law was in and we were all awaiting the birth of my son.

In the time leading up to his birth my wife spent a lot of time resting and eating her mothers food.

We even made it out to the garden to pick some of our Okra.

We squeezed in a few last pregnancy pictures.

And made sure everything was ready for that day.

Tuesday of last week we were eating by the beach side and @dzigbordi wanted to take a pee and went down by the beach side to do that enjoying the freedom of such matters. When she returned she said her water had broken.

We did not rush to the hospital as she was still not having very strong contractions. We made sure we had everything ready and slept through the night. The next morning after breakfast we went to the hospital to check everything out and get this thing started hopefully.

PXL_20221102_094905027.jpg

When we got to the hospital she was only about 1.5cm dilated. They swiped the womb and we waited. You can see here waiting here on her hospital bed. We had a room to our self at the small private hospital we had be doing our prenatal visits at.

We waited the whole day and they checked her occasionally but no major dilation or contractions. We took a walk in the evening and the contractions started coming more regularly. It got to the point where they were about every 10 minutes. The midwife checked her again at about 10pm and noticed some blood when checking for the dilation. The midwife got a little spooked fearing the placenta could be leading the way and they referred us to a large public hospital. We feared the worst and started preparing our self for the potential of needing to do a C-section.

The next hospital was about 30 minutes away and the tension was high the whole drive there and when we arrived. We took her to the pregnancy ward and I was immediately kicked out to wait outside with the mosquito. Before long I had to run samples to the lab and pay the cashier and do a registration for here. But around midnight I think I got the news that she should deliver normally before the next day. I tried to sleep on a narrow wooden bench outside but the mosquito and my big western body were not cooperating on the small wooden bench and a good dose of gravity.

I opted to go to the car and sleep there. Even there I needed to put a small gap in the windows to let in fresh air and before too long it was like having my head in a bees nest but it was mosquitos. I had to take a sheet I brought and wrap it around my body and wrap a shirt around my head. I slept for a bit but uncomfortably because I sweated through my whole shirt in no time. I eventually had to take the sheet off my upper body. I woke around 4:58 not knowing where I was for a minute and what I needed to do but then saw a message from my mother in law at the same time looking for any update. I got myself up and went to the ward and I think i was tired an needed to know so I tried walking straight in but they stopped me and told me she had just given birth at 5am.

At about 6 I was finally able to go in and see them.

I got to know that Dzigbordi was fine she gave birth naturally on the ward bed at 5 and Björn our son was healthy. Dzigbordi was discharged at 10am and everything was good. The whole processes of birth at the hospital cost us about $30.

We went home it was a long slow trip on the bumpy road and quite uncomfortable for my wife I believe. It was great to have them both home safe and sound and I had to prepare for another busy weekend at the hotel.

In addition to making sure that Dzigbordi had all her favorite local meals from her mom, grandmas other duty was to bath Björn and message him. She had a metal can with a hole in the bottom of it she used this to drip hot water where ever there was an entry to the body, the penis, ass, naval and so on. She would them rub him down well with shea butter. Above is after his first bath with grandma.

We are blessed he is so healthy and strong. He sleeps well, eats well and you know fills the diaper well. Other than being a little gassy all is well.

His name is Swedish for bear. My name is also Swedish and the name of a famous viking explorer who sailed to North America 400 years before Columbus. My wife and I wanted to give him a little bit of my Swedish heritage we also gave him a local middle name.

When he isn't attached to the booby he can occasionally be found playing with daddy or sleeping with dramatic arms. He does not like to be swaddled and kicks off any sort of covering.

Thank you..

Congratulations :)

What a nerve wracking ordeal. I'm so glad everything worked out. I was shocked to read you even had to run the samples to the lab. Almost as much as the fact they wouldn't allow you to stay with her through the birth. At least you had the mosquitos to keep you company.

The little man looks so peaceful in that second to last picture you shared. Although in the one before it where he is on your legs he is looking like he is thinking, where the hell am I, get me back in the water tank, lol.

Here is to the journey the two of you will make together, and may you both form bonds of thankfulness and learning as the years go by. And yes, you will learn as much if not more from him as he will you.

It was something and luckily all a blur now. But I had really wanted to be there with my wife during birth and why I had gone to all the prenatal visits and we choose a small place that would allow that. But all plans go to hell right. The funny thing is that it is really a relic of very strong patriarchy that is seen from the other side. Child birth and women's re-productivity is still very much women's business. The hospital was named mother and child and it only caters to that I suppose.

One of the midwives ran into me at the super market yesterday and was very pleasant though.

He has some very funny facial expressions hard to know what they mean now.

Hey congrats on the birth of your son? i know all too well the viking origins of the name Björn Ironside! Lover watching the Viking series on Netflix.😀

Please enjoy him, I have babies myself and they are the joy of life.

Thank you. Actually the name is a bit of a family tradition as mine is Leif and I was named this long before the second Vikings came out. But yes it is a good series also and has definitely made the name more popular than the tennis star.

Yes I am enjoying him a lot and even when it is difficult in the middle of the night. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

You have documented it in detail. Precious moments that will never be repeated. But it can be celebrated again to maintain happiness.

I really enjoyed reading your story. Really. I learned many things.

I can see your struggle. Even though you are tired, even when you have trouble sleeping, you still do your best for your family.
I love it when you share cute photos of your child. It brings joy to readers like me. I pray that your child will always be healthy and live a full life of happiness. ❤️

And when you provide details in your notes. For example, when you say "cost 30$". That makes me understand a little about the culture (I haven't found the right words) in your place.

Overall.
Glad to get a happy story from you.
