Abby why are you coming home by this time? Her aunt asked.
I'm just returning from work because of the traffic.
How can you say it's because of the traffic, is that not the same route I take?
I know but... (While still trying to complete her statement, her aunt disrupted her).
But what? The next time you return but this time, you will leave my house.
Abby was reluctant to apologize, she just left with saying any words.
Abby is a graduate who happens to be living with her aunt in the city because she was still struggling to make hands meet. She always felt like her aunt hates her and she was even ready to leave if that's what she wanted. Abby always get home late because she always goes to her boyfriend's place after work and she refuses to tell her aunt.
The next day, the same mistake happened and Abby's aunt refused to open door for her, telling her to go back to were she came from. Abby was feeling a little guilty this time but was still reluctant to apologize to her aunt. Her aunt was furious, she quickly went inside the house to bring Abby's belongings and gave them to her. Abby was both sad and happy at the same time because she was tried of her aunt's nagging and she was not ready to start coming back early.
Before now, Abby had told her boyfriend about how her aunt has been reacting towards her coming late and how she has treated to throw her out of the house. Ray happens to be the name of her boyfriend. Immediately Abby said she wanted to move in with him since he was living alone, Ray's mood changed, Abby was not sure why he reacted that way so she asked what was wrong with him.
No babe, you have to go back and apologize to your aunt, Ray said.
What? I thought you've always wanted me to move in, why the sudden change? Abby lamented.
I know that but you refused saying you want us to get married first which I agreed with, why the sudden change now?
But my aunt has planned throwing me out of her house, where do you want me to go to?
I'm sorry but you will have to go apologize to her, Ray insisted.
Abby felt so betrayed and surprised at Ray's sudden change so she ran out of his house.
Seeing that she has nowhere to go after her aunt threw her out, she then remembered her friends at work who stay together in one apartment and they happen to live in the same compound as her boyfriend. She pleaded with them to allow her stay and they all agreed. She was so grateful and she was so glad she had such wonderful friends unlike her boyfriend who refused to help her when she needed him.
Abby's friends were Diana, Joshua and Patrick. They all are really close friends since they started working together. They've agreed to live together in the same apartment till they were ready to settle down so as to save costs of renting an apartment. Abby loved how they did things together and she never felt left out in anything.
As friends should, they asked her what happened and she narrated everything to them. They asked her why she didn't go stay with her boyfriend who was next door and she also told them they were no longer together. They saw how sad she was while trying to explain to them and they stopped her from continuing.
The next day, while Abby was going out to throw away the refuge, she met Ray who was just returning from work. Ray was surprised.
What are you doing here Abby? Ray asked curiously.
What do you think I'm doing here? Well if you are that curious, I now live with my friends of which they happen to be your neighbors.
What? Is it because I didn't let you live with me? I never knew you were this cheap, he continued.
Abby was surprised at what Ray said and because of the rage in her, she gave Ray a slap for calling her cheap and walked out.
Ray was very angry at what had just happened but he just went inside his apartment. On the other hand, Abby felt bad for slapping him, her friends noticed her mood but Diana was the first to ask her what was wrong.
I just saw Ray outside and he called me cheap because I now live with you guys, she said.
Who does he even think he is, I think he has another woman that's why he's acting this way, Diana added.
No I don't think he has someone else, Ray can't do such a thing Abby said.
Okay if you say so, there's only one way to find out, make him jealous Patrick said.
What? How? Abby asked.
Well, about you act as if you are going out with Josh, if he gets jealous it will make him want you back, Patrick added.
Abby was not sure if it will work but she wanted her boyfriend back so she agreed to Patrick's suggest after Josh agreed to be her imposter boyfriend.
The next day, Josh and Abby happened to return home together and they met Ray outside who was going out. Abby seeing that Ray was staring at them, kissed Josh in Ray's presence. It was obvious that Ray was jealous but instead of looking for a way to get his girlfriend back, he joined in the game of making Abby jealous too.
The next day, while also returning from work, they met Ray outside but this time with a girl. Ray saw that Abby was looking at him, so he kissed the girl that was with him so Abby could see. Abby was so heartbroken at what she saw because she never knew Ray was capable of doing something like that to her.
Unknowingly to Abby, the lady with Ray was Ray's cousin but she has never seen her before so she was not sure who she was. Ray's cousin was mad at him for what he did but he apologized to her and told her the reason he did that was to make Abby jealous. He pleaded with his cousin to act as his girlfriend since Abby never knew she was his cousin.
After much arguing, she agreed to his stupid plan as she calls it. Ray pleaded with her to also move in to make it look real. Meanwhile, Abby was at home crying herself to stupor, she regretted her actions of acting like she has moved on. Later that day, she went to Ray's house to apologize for what she did. Ray acted as if he was reluctant to let her in but he did.
Ray I'm so so sorry for what I did to you, you see Josh, all that was all fake. I did that to make you jealous but it's obvious it's not going to work so please forgive, I'm really sorry, Abby pleaded.
Well, I've moved on Abby, I've met some else that I love.
So Ray, I meant nothing to you? I love you Ray, I'm sorry for what I did.
Abby!! Ray called in rage, I said I've moved on, please leave!!
Abby felt so embarrassed because of the way Ray treated so she left in tears.
When she left, Ray felt like a winner because Abby was not able to continue with the game she started. Abby walked home like a zombie, feeling so betrayed. Entering her apartment, her friend Josh saw her and quickly went to console her as it was obvious what has happened. Josh was feeling so bad for her and wish he could make her tears go away so he kept consoling her.
It happened that Ray's cousin got to know that Ray rejected Abby when she came to apologize. She felt so mad at Ray and she refused to continue the game. Ray was blinded by pride that he failed to know when to stop the game he started.
As time went by, Josh starts falling for Abby, his other friends noticed it and asked him to tell her but he was scared, meanwhile Abby also likes him but she was not sure how to tell him. After much encouragement, Josh told Abby of his feelings for her and she also confessed to him that she loves him too. While they were getting together, they heard a knock on the door, Diana quickly went to get the door and surprisingly, it was Ray. Abby was surprised to see who came to see her.
Abby please can I speak to you in private? Ray asked.
No, whatever you have to say to me, you have to say it in the presence of my friends, Abby replied.
Okay fine, if that's what you want, Ray said smiling.
Abby, I'm so sorry for what I've done, I lied about that girl you saw the last time. She's my cousin you've never met, I did all that to pay you back for what you did to me but now I've come to realize you really love me and I love you too, he continued.
Abby looked at him surprisingly and speechless. While she was still not sure of where Ray was heading, he bent on one knee to propose to her. Abby turned own his proposal telling him she loves some else. She stood up and went to met Josh and kissed him. Ray understood at that point that he has lost the only one he loved because of his ego.
After one month, Josh proposed to Abby and she agreed, so they both got married and lived happily ever after.
