In my generation,
We dress up our young girls like we do our adult selves
Gracing their innocent bodies with crop tops and short shorts
Why then do we complain when they grow up too fast?
In my generation,
The boys are 'daddies' and the young girls 'mommies'
And parents are now bab(i)es in their own houses
Why then do we complain when we bend to their rants?
In my generation,
We teach kids that cooking and cleaning are gender roles not basic skills
And an 'aunty' is always on standby to clean their mess
Why then do we complain when they turn out irresponsible?
In my generation,
We spend so much on toys and outfits forgetting time and love
And crying is for the weak
And still we ask why our young men die in silence?
