My wife and I left the beautiful island of Zanzibar on New Years Eve. 🏝️

On the way back in the plane, I wrote a poem about the island...

Here it is (and a few pics):

Oh Zanzibar
How proud you are
With the sun in your heart
And a smile on your face
Sadly, it is time to depart

Your people are strong
And they might not have much
A big portion of dignity
Is certain as such!

You have put us
Under your spell
So many tales now
That we can tell

We will return
Because we have no choice
Under your spell
We have been put
We can hear your voice...

    You can take a Mercury tour

    Mercury did not often speak publicly about his upbringing in Zanzibar, but that has not stopped a lucrative tourist trade growing around him in the archipelago.
    Today, Queen fans can take tours of his childhood haunts - including his home, his family's place of worship and the court where his father worked. There is also a Freddie Mercury restaurant and gift shop.
