[Witness Talks] What features do you think would be most useful on Blurt? (ENG/PL)

It's worth talking and listening to other people, which is why I started this series of articles. This is the place to share your ideas for Blurt development.

The question is also what functionality do you think is missing the most? What should the dev team focus on?

In my opinion, the best indicator here is not what we think, but what those who don't want to join blurt for some reason ;)

Therefore, I would like you to share your friends' complaints here and it would be best if you asked a few people what they think is wrong here :D

After all, there is no better way to improve the platform and attract new people than to understand what discourages a person's potential to join and somehow remedy it ;)

I already shared a bit in the last Witness talk, definitely the one I recommended before, the main things that put them off were:

  • not understanding what they are dealing with and believing that they are dealing with something complicated.
  • and therefore not understanding the benefits of using Blurt for other media.
  • and few users and little activity which, for example, earlier on hive was additionally killed by bots.

Among other things, hence my idea to create an information page at https://blurt.pl (which, by the way, you can also go ahead and criticize constructively, from top to bottom.) to try to explain to people what they have to do in a more accessible way and increase the presence our online platform.

What are your experiences in promotion and what have those to whom you recommended Blurt complained about?

I invite you to the discussion.

Jakiej funkcjonalności brakuje w Blurcie waszym znajomym którym go polecaliście?

Warto rozmawiać i słuchać innych ludzi, dlatego też założyłem ten cykl artykułów.

Zapraszam do dyskusji.

Thanks for asking for input.
I am a simple content-creator, so some of the technical phrases used here are foreign to me.
I understand that you are asking for suggestions to improve Blurt, from the perspective of unfamiliar people who may be interested in the platform. The main complaint I have heard from those people is the complexity involved in signing up, and using this blockchain. I have tried to provide guidance with posts like this and this. I'm sure developers would have a better idea how to change the code to make things simpler and easier for novice users, without removing functionality or dumbing things down.
As for me, I would like to see video embedding (as mentioned below by others). I would like an option/setting to automatically accept payouts, instead of having to click a button, which delays growth dramatically. If a fee must be taken to accept the payout, the fee could be taken directly out of the payout. I would also like to see partnerships with other platforms that don't directly compete with what we do here, such as www.Flote.app which is a decentralized crypto-based social media site that values free speech. We could have them link to us, and allow members a Blurt icon on their profiles which links to their Blurt page. Perhaps Blurt would reciprocate by adding a similar function here, with icons that members can add to their profile and link directly to their other social media accounts. People like that kind of thing.

I've been asking since the beginning for video embedding from alternatives to youtube as it is heavily censored.
The joining up process needs to be much clearer and easier. The whole 'keys' thing is totally alien to most social media veterans.
Not interested in flashing lights and silly hearts, functionality should be priority not 'cuteness'.

Yeah, bitchute, rumble, odysee

This would be great. It would be nice if I can embed my Rumble videos here. It's not a super important addition but it would be a great "quality of life" addition.

Agree - functionality FAR over flashy icons and gamification. Make it work, and make it powerful. Don't spend resources on making it sparkle.
Also agree on embedding video players. YT for sure, and as MK said we need bitchute, odysee, and rumble as well. This adds functionality and ease of use for the consumer, and for us content-creators.

I've said this once and I'll say it again...
A second-layer chain, with a VERY cheap cost to create tokens, NFTs, and its own DeFi Pool website. One that can compete directly with Hive's Second layer Chain (BEE) and its front ends... TribalDex and Hive-Engine.

Maybe instead of creating its own token, like BEE on Hive Engine, perhaps we can use a 1 Blurt:1 Blurt (Engine Token) that way Blurt, itself, has more utility.

I've got a bitchute account too, but I have never really prioritized it. I only upload where I get more utility (like being able to embed almost everywhere, like YouTube) or if I get an income, like D.Tube, Odysee, or Rumble.

If I can embed BitChute, even if I don't get paid from BitChute, then that would be perfectly fine because it will replace my YouTube embeds here.

I agree with that. Also, I have been heavily censored/shadowbanned on Bitchute from the beginning. I have done hundreds of great videos and documentaries, and commented all over the place, only to achieve about 120 subscribers in 3 years. They do not allow cannabis activism, or certain other Liberty-based topics. Shame on them for being just as bad or worse than YouTube in that way. They started off as a free speech platform, HAH!!

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

I also don't recommend bitchute for some reason after uploading 2 video's they wouldn't let me upload any more which is why I ended up on Odysee.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

Yeah Odysee is better in most ways. Although they started off a crypto platform, and I worked hard to earn their token... but it then went to zero, and there was no way to redeem them, and they now have gone to a dollar subscription model instead. Not a lot of good free options for video hosting. I use Flote too, but nobody knows about it. I would say it's the best except that I can't embed it anywhere and the public has never heard of it.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

I wouldn't be so concerned about no-one hearing about it, if like someone suggested above blurt can affiliate with lesser known platforms and somehow link up it will make both platforms more usable maybe AND draw more people in.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

Yeah, that was me suggesting that :)
I have been trying to get Blurtians to sign up on Flote, and vice versa.
I recommend it, even if you just use it to host videos. It's free, and uploads are available in just seconds, instead of minutes or hours like other platforms. They are pro free speech, decentralized, and are working on bringing in a crypto wallet with their own token soon.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

...we have been for quite some time now talking about the benefits of BitChute partnering up with Steem and even how it could be used to embed videos on Steem like people do with Youtube

Same goes for Rumble since it appears to be the preferred tokenized platform these days.
Just having either of them render images from video links like we have with Youtube would be a big step forward.

no, these tokens goes nowhere, one decentralized token as it is and we are unstoppable

what we need are plugins that could power other communities, for example mastodon, wordpress....

Good afternoon. It seems to me that it is possible to make a more convenient service for buying a Blurt token through a card. Approximately as on the Hive platform ( Peakd ). I think it would be very useful for new users of the Blurt platform. Thank you very much for the informative post. I wish you success.

I know many people who find the word "stock exchange" intimidating and stressful, and many think it takes a lot of time and patience. Many are accustomed to working with the map, and this can significantly attract new users. Everything simple, as a rule, works reliably, unnecessary gestures and strains. I think this should have been done at the very beginning of the platform launch.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

to dobry pomysł, tutaj taka wtyczka sprawdzi się lepiej niż na Hive, gdzie post opublikowane przy jej użyciu są traktowane jak spam

As I said a few weeks ago, new or old hive users are afraid to use blurt. On Twitter I have helped the blurtofficial account in recommending the platform.

"new or old hive users are afraid to use blurt"
Many of those users have wallets full of tokens here. When the price goes up, they will consider joining Blurt... if we don't delete their money before that can happen.

Xq take away the vote of the powerful or start giving negative votes.

What makes Blurt different from the other chains, and why 90% of users are here, is that there are no negative votes. So I cannot agree with you there.

Posted from https://blurtlatam.intinte.org

Why are they afraid?

Xq take away the vote of the powerful or start giving negative votes.

We don't have negative votes on Blurt... 👍

Great post. I too am interested to see what people want. Reblurted.

What an idiotic idea: the best way to make a product more useful is to ask people who don't care for the product to use it, why they don't care for the product!

How about you ask people who use the product, what they find as troublesome and what more they want from it?

because they are already here and something convinced them to stay here and they say it on different occasions. In turn, what blurt needs in my opinion is more users that can be acquired, min by finding out what discourages them from joining.

Then what are you doing asking on blurt what non blurt people want to see out of blurt? Whichever way you look at it it doesn't make sense.

A while ago I was browsing the mastodon that @fervi mentioned, I wonder if it would be possible to make a Mastodon + Blurt plugin and run own server. Such an interface would be a hit. In addition, the plugin would be available for other mastodon servers

I registered on Mastodon, I really liked the smooth and functional work of this social network. The developer of this network, a professional 💪

This is something I have proposed in the past:
Blurt Open Source Learning Management System and Onboarding Dapp Model featuring TTFM Turntable.FM as a 'Case Study' for any GitHub Open Source Dapp currently running on Web3.

What is LMS [Learning Management System]?

iSpring 17K subscribers

An LMS is a software that delivers online courses to your potential new users, providing them with fresh data when it's not possible to gather in one place.

Now ANYONE with a Smartphone can Build their OWN BLURT Open Source Tutorial Libraries via Turntabl.FM simply by copying Youtube video links that explain Blurt Onboarding... And NO PROGRAMING KNOWLEDGE NEEDED.

Turntable.FM offers a user friendly and perhaps somewhat juvenile aesthetic GUI which may be a more gentle way of onboarding new users to something they do not understand and perhaps fear like Blockchain.

In the sense that you are thinking about creating such software for blurt somehow or are you rather thinking about making such an LMS for blurt somewhere on one of these portals to translate what and how?

The first option is, a more serious matter.

sorry but I don't know much about this so I don't quite understand the benefits and the point. You'd have to explain it a bit more how you see it.

BLURT needs a step by step video that Walks Through getting started like this video below ...

Metamask Tutorial For COMPLETE Beginners

Everyone goes to Youtube looking for Step by step instructions on getting started... but right now there is nothing for them to find specific to Getting Started on BLURT...

Yes you are right. Although it actually happens that I've already started working on it after suggestions from other users here. At least in Polish :) There is already a yt channel:

The step by step videos are key, then the Turntable.FM platform offers a way to make it a fun interactive experience for new users.
