What I said was that Blurt has these selling points:

Darkmode
Markdown
No downvoting
An easy to use menu system
Its a lot like Steemit circa 2018
A good system in place to stop spam and bots
A working crypto currency
Its not under total deep state content control

That is enough to keep me interested, for real!

And yes, I forgot the four week powerdown - that is an advantage over Steemit or Hive too.

Why is Markdown important? I was asked

Markdown is the formatting language that Steemit, Hive, Blurt and Wordpess all use. If everyone used it, it would be easy to copy posts from one platform to another, and it's easy to learn - eg:

For example, by putting ## in front of text it appears bigger.
But Bastyon (Bless as @lucylin would say) doesn't frigging use Markdown, so rendering the site useless for long form blogging

An asterix at each end of the sentence above - no spaces - puts it into italics

So platforms like Bastyon (And Twitter, Facebook, and Gab too) are handing Blurt a massive opportunity on a plate, by being useless for long form blogging.

But I still want to use three platforms - Wordpress.org, Bastyon, and Blurt.

Using Wordpress.org means I can host my own content on my own server space and use my own domain - https://www.frot.co.nz - so it does have better censorship resistance - but it is still at the mercy of being threatened at a government level, which has happened to me once. (I live in New Zealand) Also my domain is blocked by several big platforms such as Facebook so links to my posts cannot be shared. It is also totally shadow banned by Google so I can't even send emails to Gmail accounts, and search results are hidden.

Coolest thing is I can set up the site exactly as I want and have dozens of galleries with thousands of images, and with a huge range of plug ins there is generally a way to do almost anything.

But what I can't do is have any engagement at all - I have to have all commenting turned off because it is relentlessly bombarded with hundreds of moronic AI comments:

"Thank you for the auspicious writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it. Look advanced to more added agreeable from you! By the way, how can we communicate?"

So Wordpress is my personal scrapbook, but it has no real engagement and it not only doesn't earn me anything, I am paying for the server space and the domain as well, so it costs me money. But it is mine all mine!

BASTYON

Bastyon is run on nodes - so it's a bit like Blurt and the other blockchains, but there are a lot more people hosting the content and they are not "witnesses" - it's proof of stake and it is hosted by investors. Anyone who wants to invest in Pkoin (the Bastyon token) can earn a good return on them. I have earned thousands of dollars from running my own node as well as being part of a pool.

It has fully encrypted chat which works better than anything else I've tried. It has some other handy uses too and I am doing things on Bastyon that I couldn't do elsewhere. If the horsefacetranny commiecokeheadbitch tries to shut me down on Bastyon she/he/it will be shit out of luck!.

But Bastyon still has plenty of problems and rough edges. The founder seems to have his heart in the right place - he is anti censorship and well aware of the deep state agendas. But the developers do not appear to have a clue about blogging, hence epic fails like not using Markup.

It is not newb friendly at all - to have a fully functioning account you need 50 Pkoin and at the current value of around US50 cents per token that means you need to have US$25 invested or there are a bunch of limitations on your account. To add insult to injury, none of this is clearly explained. And setting up a node, although it only requires a mid range laptop or PC worth about $500+, can be a total nightmare. There are always unexpected bugs and glitches with all things Bastyon, and nothing is well explained.

The clever way things are set up to run as either an app or a website, while making the platform very censorship resistant, also leads to more bugs and confusion. The entire platform often feels slow and confusing. Sometimes I end up swapping from website to app or vice versa to work around problems. Newbs are often totally confused by all this and get frustrated.

There is a fair amount of posting but the content is about 90% fudporn and shitposts with all sorts of spam. I have over 140 accounts blocked. I suspect that a huge portion of the posting is CIA sponsored controlled opposition. But there is good content in there too if you follow the best people and ignore the crap. Engagement is improving and it is gradually getting on a par with most other platforms including Blurt, but nothing like the early days of Steemit. There is no good control of the spam posting or commenting and that really messes up the site.

BLURT

I use Blurt because it is like Steemit in the early days but without the downvoting. I'm not going to go on about all it's problems - I'll just say this - I wouldn't still be posting here if I didn't think they could be overcome.

From this point on I'm just going to post the content I want to share online and support with comments and upvotes (moral support) to anyone who I think deserves it. I'm not going to keep pointing out all the many issues that need fixing because I have other things I want to focus on. If things improve financially I will increase my investment. If not I'll just do posts and keep regarding the token as just a good way to stop spam that Wordpress and Bastyon could really learn from.
