The Ministry of State Security (MSS) is an intelligence agency owned by the Chinese government . The agency was created by China's Ministry of Security in 1983.

The Beijing-headquartered MSS has representatives in more than 170 cities and nearly 50 countries around the world. This organization is classified into three levels, namely general branch, branch and sub-branch.

Its mission includes upholding national security through effective action against enemy agents, spies and counter-revolutionary activities designed to sabotage or overthrow China's socialist system of government.

A number of MSS agents work in the Greater China region, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Their agents have integrated into many Chinese communities around the world.

Launching from various sources, the MSS was originally called the Central Department of Social Affairs (CDSA / Social Affairs Department), which is an important part of the Communist Party of China (CPC / Chinese Communist Party). The CDSA headquarters operated in the communist base area of Yan'an, in Shaanxi Province, North China, during the period 1937-1945.

In the second Sino-Japan war, CDSA reported to the CPC about the world situation, based on news reports supplemented with important intelligence data. CDSA underwent a reorganization when it entered the summer of 1949.

The change resulted in a name change and several prominent intelligence officers being transferred to senior positions in the new Ministry of Public Security (MSP) of the Central Revolutionary Military Affair Commission (CCP). Then at this time the CCP institution changed its name to the Ministry of Public Security of Central People's Government.

After an extended transition period, former CDSA members became members of the People's Liberation Army, which was fully revived under the Communist Party Central Committee in 1955, which is now the Central Investigation Department (CID).

Further developments, in 1983, there was a merger or smelting between CID and the MPS counterintelligence division. The two departments are merged into one in the MSS container. In the same year, the first head of the MSS was appointed Ling Yun, former founder of PRC and once served as deputy minister of MPS.

Ling Yun's term of office was relatively short, reaching 1985. Next, he was replaced by Jia Chunwang, a former member of the CPC Central Committee, known as the longest MSS head, from 1985-1998.

MSS underwent restructuring around 2003, at that time under the leadership of Xu Yongyue, occupying the number one seat in MSS since 1998. During his tenure as head, MSS was directed to efforts to prosecute Falun Gong activities.

Until now, MSS is still known as closed and the public cannot access the information needed about open MSS activities, because it does not have an official website and an organizational spokesperson.

Thus a brief information dam hopefully useful. Regards! @aronexxon 🙏🙂
