A few days ago, I saw a message online and was amazed. It's true that excessive obsession is often a disaster.

An elderly man in Handan City, Hebei Province, about seventy years old, has a hobby of winter swimming, almost in a state of obsession. In the depth of winter, the river has frozen over, but the old man still goes swimming. Even the young people put on thick cotton coats, but the old man broke through the ice in the river and still went swimming in the winter. Unfortunately, something happened in the end. Perhaps the old man couldn't find an exit underwater, or perhaps the cold water had left him numb and unconscious. Rescue workers spent several hours salvaging the old man's body before finding it.

We have no doubt about the elderly's swimming skills, nor do we doubt his physical strength, nor do we doubt his love or obsession with winter swimming, but after all, breaking through the ice on the river and swimming underwater is too dangerous. When the river surface is not frozen, one can swim in the river with his head out to breathe at any time. However, people are prone to suffer oxygen deficiency under the ice, and it is also easy to lose direction under the ice, making it difficult to find an exit.

Everything should have a limit, excessive obsession often leads to disaster.

Emotionally, a person's obsession with another person can have positive results if they are in love with each other, but if they are unrequited, it often makes them lose interest in food and drink, and even become infatuated and obsessed. Perhaps it will ultimately lead to a tragedy of martyrdom.

A peasant dreams of becoming a poet, not wanting to change the difficult life at home. He sits indoors all day writing poetry, and even uses the money his wife used to buy fertilizer and seeds to buy poetry collections. If this obsession with literature is divorced from reality, it will be a fatal blow. We should like to ask, how many people ultimately become poets by sitting indoors and writing poetry?

The book “The Plum in the Golden Vase” was once classified as a lewd book and was banned. It is said that the purpose of writing this book was to murder someone. This person likes to read obscene things, and those who want to harm him have found someone to write such a book full of obscene content, with venom mixed in the characters printed on the book. When this person was flipping through a book, he dipped his fingers in saliva and flipped through each page, inhaling the venom into his body. Eventually, he died from poisoning.

Being proactive is a good thing, but we must act within our means and consider various practical factors. We cannot act unilaterally and hit the wall, we should act according to our abilities.
