Japanese Shrine Hiking and mangosteen picking

in adventure •  2 years ago

One afternoon, I invited my sister to hiked with me all they way to our farm that is situated on a hill not far away from Japanese Shrines, for hike purpose and mangosteen fruit picking. It is a seasonal fruit so we were hoping to have some harvest and of course it didn't disappoint us. We were able picked several mangosteens.

I used to climbed trees when I was a kid. There were different fruit trees growing around our house and I couldn't stay out of them. Children naturally love to climb tress as what I have observed. If I find a tree with numerous branches that is accessible to climb, I would immediately start my ascent to explore the heights above.

This is the jump off area. We started to followed the trail. Only few people are living in this area, mostly are farmers that live on farming, they're planting coconuts, bananas, rambutan and many other fruits trees and also vegetables. Valencia is hilly and mountainous therefore it is favorable for farming and gardening.

After an hour of hiking, we finally arrived at our destination. Though we were both catching our breath but seeing the mangosteen with so many ripe fruits on the branches, that's looks so fascinating and salivating lol, we right away climbed on. Even my sister who is not good in climbing did try her best to made her way up and she did.

We didn't have any tools with us for picking so we hand picked the fruits and we could only picked the ones that are reachable, the rest that are at the tip of the branches we leave it for the birds. We know we are not the only creatures that live on what the natures has provided, we have to leave some for the other living creatures, I've learned that from my dad, whenever he harvest fruits he would leave some for the other to sustain life.

Mangosteen taste like a mixture between like peach, strawberry and pineapple. Sweet and a little bit sour , but the sweetness is stronger. The sweetness and sourness makes a perfect taste combination. It has seeds in it, you only need to eat the flesh coating around its seeds. We ate several fruits there since we didn't have bigger purse to carry with.

We then proceeded to Japanese Shrine that took about half an hour. Reaching the top would be very relaxing, you will be able to see the capital city of Negros Oriental and wide because it is overlooking. The road going up the Shrine is very steep that requires a skilled driver and maybe dangerous for some standard vehicles. I will talk more about Japanese Shrines in one of my post next time.
That was one of or great time hikes with my sister. If you like my post stay tune for more adventure! Until next time!
