A Rainy Caturday!............. NW Cascade Wanderings

Happy Caturday everyone! 😽
We woke up late this morning I actually got over 8 hours of sleep! The rain hitting the skylight lulled me, I suspect. However, before we could climb out of bed, the power went. Fortunately, we have a good sized generator and can switch things on and off like the water heater and the well, and can still take a hot shower! 😎

After @silvertop got it all set up and ready to fire up, we got our showers and then headed to town to refill the gas can. Here in our neck of the woods, you want to keep extra gasoline and propane on hand. The generator we have runs on both so we always make sure to keep everything topped up. We have numerous wind storms every fall, winter and spring, so it pays to be prepared.

We discovered upon leaving, that a tree had fallen and apparently taken a power pole along with it! The wires looked pretty mangled! See @silvertop’s post for pictures. I’m always driving and never get the photo opps he does.

Upon getting the gas and dropping our ballots in the ballot box in Everson for the presidential election and numerous other issues included on the ballot, we returned home long enough to drop the gas off. Then we headed to Lynden for a coffee date at Starbucks. The power crews were busy trying to clean up and set the pole and rewire, but were gracious enough to let us through.

We spent a little bit of time at Starbucks as the rain was seriously blowing. Then we headed out to Winco for some groceries. @silvertop stayed in the car as I shopped. The place was packed! I got what we needed but walked pretty much every aisle to get steps. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. Once home, I paced. 🙄

It’s STILL raining as I type! ☔️☔️☔️ The river is at 77.39’. Flood stage is 83’. I know everyone is watching and waiting to see if this is going to be another flood year. If the rain continues as it has all day, then based on NOAA and what I saw today crossing it, it’s a possibility. If the rain lets up, we should be okay. 🙏
