It is a logical fallacy to assume how others feel based on their facial expressions. The truth is that, even if they tell you outright, you cannot actually know what another person feels, you can only attempt to empathize based on imagination and experience. If you want others to be happy around you, be happy with yourself, and teach them how to do the same by pulling them forward.
Be there for others, but, more importantly, for you. Be you for you, and smile when others appreciate you too.
Keep writing. Write everything. Later, maybe months or years later, go back and read it. Save it as-is if you wish to dwell, or, rewrite it to reflect the way life has rewritten you. Personally, I'm not a fan of unsent letters and such, but I am a fan of forgetting what should be forgotten and rewriting what should be rewritten.
