Bringing in Stability

I always feel that the more we push our body the more we understand our potential. When we look at other people doing something very strong we feel charmed and sometimes we feel that may be that person can do it but I cannot. Same is it with me when it comes to Aerial Yoga, when I look at my instructor doing it I feel like wow, wish I can also do the same. I do not doubt myself much but still because of age I fear sometimes that I should not end up breaking my bones....hehehe

My class is a mix of building up core, gaining strength and most importantly gaining stability. When I had started my practice I would move all around with the cloth. It was so difficult for me to stabilize, so this was also a challenge for me to get stable in my poses when I am up there and not keep on moving around with the cloth, because that can make me fall or I can end up with a vertigo.

With a lot of practice and focus I am able to get there. The last 2 classes have been moving fast and I am seeing myself getting settled. I also realize that our physical body has so much scope to improve.
We did the Tree Pose on the cloth, at first I felt I will go down from behind but steadily I could stand up without moving around.

While looks very tough but it is not, there are some tricks in every pose, like for this one, one hand in front and one hand behind of the cloth brings stability and also locks up in the pose and does not allow you to fall.

When I went up there I was skeptical with my hands but slowly could manage to get into the final pose as above.

This particular one was just not about stability but also of strength as a lot of leg work also had to be done

My Instructor asked me to learn to stabilize myself horizontally. This is a much easier version of it, also called as a mermaid pose.

And then I had to get onto the difficult one, that was stabilizing myself horizontally on the cloth. This was very difficult to balance, and I was scared of falling either way, but I could do it. Though I could just hold up myself for 5 seconds and then I tumbled. I was feeling very proud of myself to accomplish this particular one.

We do underestimate ourselves, when we keep challenging our own limits we realize that nothing is impossible.
I will keep sharing more of my Aerial Yoga pictures, I like to share this part of me very much with everyone.
