Good morning my blurt fam! Today I'm on morning shift, and luckily it's our schedule for our pneumococcal vaccination. This is a privilege given to hospital staffs. This vaccines help prevent pneumococcal disease. A type of illness caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.
As i read from Google, on most people, one of each shot should be enough to protect them for their entire lives. Sometimes, you may need a booster shot.
My colleague, not in medical field since she worked as a clerk, asked if pneumococcal vaccine same as COVID vaccine? The vaccinator said no. This pneumococcal vaccination does not involve a vaccine against COVID-19. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by a virus. Pneumococci are bacteria.
