Why did you leave Contabo? Is Colocrossing cheaper than Contabo? Or does it mean that you rather rent a dedicated server on which you can run loads and loads of servers (at one set price), instead of paying monthly to rent different VPS servers?

Contabo isn't reliable. There are many instances of downtime (average 2-3 times a year)
