Saw a post on Hive that the steem-engine domain expired and that shut down both steem and hive engine. I think hive-engine got a work around for now. Not sure about steem engine. anyway hope that helps.

I think is quite naughty of the registrars to point the domain to their sales page so quickly. ICANN rules have a 30 days grace period, so they shouldn't lose the domain but they may need to pay extra and have to reconfigure the DNS settings and wait for them to propagate and... well, not to forget next year!!
I once bought a Domain from Godaddy.com And built a Website to sell my artwork ...... Godaddy kept increasing the cost every year. I decided to let it go. It had a Google PR of 3 .... they put it up for sale and some one from China bought it the next day and sold it to somebody in Boston running a Duct Cleaning Company with my old Business Name. Probably a Scam of some kind .... There was nothing I could do about it.
Couldn't you just transfer to another registrar? I know, godaddy has a horrible rep for making it difficult.

Nah.... I was making more from Adsense on my Free Blogger blogs so I decided To just be a blogger and not bother with a Web site.
But you can point a domain to your blogger blogs, so easier to remember the name. I did that on a couple of blogs.
erm... the domain steem-engine.com is up for sale on Sedo! hive-engine isn't.
I'm not saying a word.
Yeah I did that for a while. Just got tired of paying the extra $$$$ for the dot com.
