The Phoenix Rising FC are an interesting team to watch on the field. Although they are not part of the MLS, they are attempting to do so and are working with city planners in Tempe, AZ to build a 21,000 seat stadium in town. Phoenix itself is a soccer city, with a large and vocal support for the league and a hunger to join the MLS. The Rising have faced a tough start to the season, but have the talent and drive to make it big in 2022.
The Phoenix Rising FC has been having trouble as of late, and lost their 4th match this season to the Las Vegas Lights FC. The Rising FC lost 3-2 vs the Lights, and Santi Moar and Aodhan Quinn were the contributors to the final score.
The Phoenix Rising may join the MLS and become the 30th team in the league. Some emerging markets for the league include Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego. Phoenix has plans to construct an arena for MLS games that can seat 21,000 and potential broadcast deals. The city itself is huge, boasting over 4—million people and a large soccer following as well. Despite the rough season start for Phoenix, the team has strong players with good experience and the backing of a great fan base.
Santi Moar of the Rising scored a goal during the game against the Lights, and he is touted as the power forward for the team. Santi has a history of excellence on teams back East and in New Mexico. Aodhan Quinn is another player who has scored 3-goals this season for the Rising. As the season heats up, expect to see more action and a comeback for Phoenix.
The Phoenix Rising will be squaring off with Orange County during the 4th of July weekend.
