2022 NBA Draft- Round One Picks and Highlights
The 2022 NBA Draft was a lot of fun this year. I always look forward to this time of year, and the draft heats up after colleges let out and new players become eligible to join the NBA. The NBA Draft has 2-rounds, and round 1 was a lot of fun to watch.
Some interesting picks were selected during the draft. The first pick was Paolo Banchero from Duke. Banchero was selected by the Orlando Magic, which was interesting and unexpected since he never spoke with Orlando about a deal before. Banchero is 6 foot 10 inches and a major addition to the Orlando offense. NBA insiders are already calling for Banchero to be the Rookie of the Year, and his performance at Duke on the Blue Devils team is a good indicator of this. As an interesting note, he is available to play basketball for the Italian National Basketball team, and may represent Italy during international competitions. Way to go Paolo Banchero!
In the following rounds of the draft, Oklahoma got Chet Holmgren from Gonzaga, Oklahoma City got Jabari Smith Jr. and the Kings drafted Keegan Murray. You can read a summary of the drafts here: https://www.espn.com/nba/draft/rounds
Oklahoma City took an aggressive stance at the draft and picked Holmgren, the 7-foot-tall Gonzaga grad into their team. Duke and Gonzaga, with their famous basketball teams, were well-represented in the draft.
