This was the other UEFA Europa League semi final, Inter Milan against Shaktar Donetsk. Inter won 5-0 so you can say it was a breeze an unstoppable Inter etc., except if you watched the game, Shaktar had 60% possession but that is the way football is sometimes you get lucky like Inter did today.
And there was some lousy refereeing from Marciniak, let's see there was a clear hand ball in the Inter area when things were 1-0, so the pundits I was watching said that it was a clear hand ball but it is up to the referee and that after seeing the repeat it was close to his body, this from the same people who will tell you that a ball hitting your elbow is a penalty every time regardless of if it is touching your body or not.
And then Inter's second goal was a clear foul, a header and the attacker pushes the Shaktar defender. This goal under any other circumstance would not have been allowed but it seems Shaktar was not going to get fair refereeing today. This is just what I watched in no way was I rooting for Shaktar I am going with Sevilla in the final regardless of who passed.
But yes, I have seen incredibly bad refereeing in both Europa League and Champion's League, I do think that conspiracy theorist could have a field day watching these referees, they are either inept which just makes you wonder who the idiot that names them is or perhaps they are corrupt. Just yesterday on Sevilla's first goal the ball left the field and the referee gave the ball to Sevilla when it was clearly a Sevilla player who headed it out. A mistake? Yes, but first of all say the referee didn't see it, the linesman most certainly did, and this mistake then led to the Sevilla goal, VAR has to see if there was anything wrong with it, but nothing happened. And this mistake led to my team getting a goal so I should be happy for it but I want to be fair, it is a mistake that should not have happened when you have three filters, referee, linesman and VAR.
In any case the final should be a great game so I will be watching it on Friday.
