Compassionate Self-Care Practices for Rapidly Returning to Well-Being.

We are all aware of the unhealthy and healthy practices that make us "feel good fast" if we slow down. However, when we are provoked by strong, ancient, fear-based emotions, our brain and body go back to their primeval form. But there's good news. There are a number of easy, compassionate self-care techniques that can help us rapidly return to our natural state of wellbeing. When I'm having a rough time, I do these six things:

Be Thankful.
Expressing our gratitude improves our mood, releases endorphins into our bodies, changes and expands our perspective on the world, and helps us remember what's important. It's a free gift that is available anywhere, at any time. At the evening dinner table, try expressing your gratitude.

Step Outside And Take A Stroll On The Ground.
Because it has an impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being, time spent in nature frequently gets referred as being the best antidepressant. Spending time in nature lowers stress, improves mood and mental health in general, allows us to "reset," develops cognitive skills, encourages creativity and problem-solving, supports work/life balance, encourages social engagement, and strengthens bonds to and intimacy within the family. We all know what helps if we slow down.

But there's good news. We can swiftly return to our natural state of well-being by engaging in a few easy, supportive self-care techniques. When I'm having a rough time, I do the following:

Breathe And Move Your Body.
Have you ever heard the saying, "The tissues are the problem?" To get from our minds to our bodies, the majority of us require all the assistance possible. even move and breathe by going to a yoga, dancing, or qi gong class (I teach movement in North Carolina), hiking, or even taking a stroll around the neighborhood. Equal parts breathing is one of my preferred breathing techniques; it's really relaxing and cleansing for our systems. Take three breaths, hold them for three, and then release them for three. Try closing your mouth and doing this via your nose.

Seek Assistance.
In every aspect of their lives, people who feel at ease asking for and receiving assistance—whether from a mentor, coach, therapist, professional a company, business partner, neighbor, friend, or coworker—achieve greater achievement and feel more connected and self-assured. One of the most crucial talents you can develop is the ability to seek for and accept help. It can also lead to a variety of new insights. Be discriminating and pick your allies carefully. How you encounter the journey can be greatly impacted by having a support network.

Reduce Your Efforts.
We must find more room to breathe, ponder, fantasize, and digest as we embark on a whole new frontier. In order to truly absorb what is happening in the moment into our hearts and souls, we are yearning for more time to simply be. We are less content the more options and decisions we have. Overdoing strains our wellbeing and prevents us from living in the present. Read, do less, and have more experiences.

Feel To Recover.
Our ability to be with our emotions increases our capacity to move past past traumas and gain greater freedom. We grow to be more open and approachable to our loved ones, more in tune with our interests and desires, and more at ease expressing our needs and setting boundaries when we "feel our feelings." We also start to reap the benefits of embracing both the dark and the light, and, despite popular belief, we start to feel less afraid and more alive.

Be Considerate.
Always be considerate. You have no idea the struggles your siblings are facing in their jobs next to you, on the playground, and in the grocery store lines. It's time to calm down a bit, reduce our loads, and stop being so ambitious. Prioritize people above goods.
