My Work Immersion Journey

Here in Philippines, Work Immersion is one of the subjects and one of the big requirements in Senior High School to be able to graduate. A Senior High School student specifically a grade-12 student must undergo Work Immersion in an establishment that is related to the student’s strand and future course in college. Work Immersion is a good opportunity to the students because it give the students experiences and background informations that the students can possibly use in the future especially in work environments, and, it enhances the students’ skills and knowledges. So since I am a grade-12 student, I already experienced Work Immersion.

I am so happy that I was assigned in one of the rural health units of our island. Some of what I experienced during our Work Immersion are a dream came true for me.

I/we the immersionists were allowed to join the service caravan, a medical mission that was held in some of the barangays of the town. During those times, it’s so overwhelming because it’s one of my dream to be part of the medical mission team because I love to help, serve, and care for people and so I was so happy because I was able to serve for my co-Filipinos. And it was also heart melting seeing our teammates entertaining and serving different people and also, it was heart melting seeing different kinds of people smiling and still fighting even if they have problems too.

In the rural health unit building, we experienced entertaining patients and making their referral slip, we were the ones who will ask them about their informations like name, address, birthdate, and what were their body conditions. We were experienced to take patients’ blood pressure, pulse rate, height, weight, and temperature.

We also experienced being the pharmacist of the day where we will be the ones who will find and give the medicines from the Pharmacy room (if available) that the doctor prescribed to the patients.

In general, what I experienced in the rural health unit during my Work Immersion days was so happy, productive; I learnt a lot, it enhances some of my skills, and indeed it was a best experience of mine.

I hope you will still support me on my next blogs! May God bless us all always 🙏❣️.
