Roma, la ciudad eterna, una ciudad diferente, desconocida al turismo de masa.

Hay una Roma distinta a la que ven tradicionalmente los turistas.

Una Roma sin Coliseo ni Piazza Spagna, sin los Sette Colli ni Piazza San Piedro con il Vaticano.

Es la ciudad eterna de todos los dias con la estación ferroviaria de Termini llena de extracomunitarios que duermen en las veredas cuando se aceca la noche y esa zona se transforma en tierra de nadie.

Es también la Roma de tantos inmigrantes muchos de ellos clandestinos y sus refugios.

Pero también de tantos artistas que sus con graffitt alegran ese sector desconocido de la ciudad.

Es la Roma moderna donde las tragedias cotidianas reemplazan a las grandes tragedias romanas y donde el degrado se esconde a los ojos de la turistas.

Roma será por toda la eternidad y en el imaginario popular de cada turista que llegue a esta ciudad, la Ciudad Eterna.

Por historia, por tradición por valores que ha inculcado al mundo a través de siglos.

Todos los caminos conducen a Roma dice un viejo refrán. Una vez que llegan a la Ciudad Eterna se bifurcan. Algunos caminos se dirigen a los grandes monumentos turísticos que generan entradas por millones de euros al año necesaria para la subsistencia de una ciudad que, de por si, es bastante cara.

Y los caminos se bifurcan en senderos desconocidos donde vive un sector marginal de la población que queda siempre afuera de las postales turísticas.

There is a Rome different from the one tourists traditionally see.

A Rome without the Colosseum and Piazza Spagna, without the Sette Colli and Piazza San Pietro with the Vatican.

It is the everyday eternal city with the Termini railway station full of non-EU citizens who sleep on the pavements when night falls and the area becomes a no man's land.

It is also the Rome of so many immigrants, many of them clandestine, and their shelters.

But also of so many artists whose graffiti brighten up this unknown part of the city.

It is the modern Rome where everyday tragedies replace the great Roman tragedies and where degradation is hidden from the eyes of tourists.
Rome will be for all eternity and in the popular imagination of every tourist who comes to this city, the Eternal City.

For history, for tradition, for the values it has instilled in the world over the centuries.

All roads lead to Rome, as the old saying goes. Once they reach the Eternal City they fork. Some roads lead to the great tourist monuments that generate millions of euros a year in revenue necessary for the subsistence of a city that, in itself, is quite expensive.

And the roads fork off into unknown paths where a marginalised section of the population lives that is always left out of the tourist postcards.
