Its proximity to Italy's world-famous wonders and UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Portovenere and the Cinque Terre, makes it almost a supporting city for those coming to these visits. This was more or less the case during our weekend in the Cinque Terre (full program here) as well, but the clerk at the hotel where we were staying further reinforced this belief. In explaining what to see nearby, he took the historic center of La Spezia out of the suburbs. However, before we left, we wanted to take a few hours to visit its historical sites.

If your goal is to thoroughly see all the historic places in La Spezia, you should devote about a day to it. The historic center of La Spezia runs between two streets, Corso Cavour and Via del Prione. These streets connect and you can take them to each other to go back.
