In OPEN RELATIONSHIPS both partners agree to be adventurous...

What does being adventurous mean?

It means they can both have sex with another person at the same time, engage in emotional entanglement with other couple.

Yes!

Open relationship is a form of consensual non-monogamous relations.

It differs from swinging the practice of engaging in group sex or the swapping of sexual partners within a group, especially on a habitual basis. In swinging, the relationship is purely sexual and nothing more. Two different couple have sex with other at parties, club and picnic and that's all.

It also differ from polyamory. Polyamory is a where partners can be in more than one serious relationship at a time. According to Wikipedia Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the informed consent of all partners involved. It has been described as "consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy".

Open relationships are somewhat in between swinging and polyamory.

Now, you won't believe what you are about to read.

Swingers unlike polyamory maintain extramarital affairs up to the extent of sex with other serious couples while polyamory is simply keeping several romantic partners. Couples in open relationship can engage in sexual relationships when they are sexually attracted to the other couple.

Saying it in rather simple terms, you can have sex with anyone you want, BUT you can not fall in love with.

You DON'T grow feelings for the other couple in open relationship.

So, what do couples benefit from open relationship?

The first reason couples indulge in an open relationship is to pursue new experiences, and to be adventurous in their relationship.

Hmm, to also have different exciting and interesting sexual experience. When couples feel their sexual life is becoming boring they may try out open relationships.

There are also disadvantages too. Anything that has the sweet part also has the bitter part.

There could be issues with self-esteem, where one of the partners may be battling with low self-esteem and it could lead to jealousy, leading to the end of the relationship...

There is also the risk of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) such as HIV/AIDS etc resulting from unprotected sex.

There could also be loss of libido due to too much sex and satisfying multiple partners.

Unwanted pregnancy is also a disadvantage.. 😮

That's that about that...

What's your opinion about open relationship?

Is it a YES! YES!! or a NO! NO!!
