Yellowjacket nest

in r2cornell •  2 years ago

Hello everyone.
During summer you can see yellowjackets flying around. They will make nests under roof, in the tree, crack on the wall or wood, or any abandoned place or structure.
This small nest was in our greenhouse. They made nest in small broken solar light.
One day I noticed it and took couple of photos.
I could get quite close to take photos. And nest was not that much big. During whole summer they did not attack any of us. They stayed there doing their thing.
I think when you come too close they will start to open and spread their wings. So that is maybe sign for treat or alert.
Dont get too close. Be on safe distance and avoid them.
All in all nice couple of photos.
They are beautiful insects and it was good that I manage to photo them.
Enjoy.
