Emotional trauma is a distressful event that shatter your sense of security or make you feel helpless and can lead to challenges in functioning or normally coping afterward. In such cases those memories keep replaying in your thoughts, this makes the victim feel disconnected and difficulty in controlling their actions.

Emotional pain can be likened to internal injury, it's not visible to the naked eyes but it's there! It is a cankerworm that eats deeply into the soul, slowly but can be so fatal.
Some of the events that can cause emotional trauma:

  • Relationship
  • Domestic violence
  • Abuse; sexual, physical
  • Intrusive medical procedure.

These may result to

  • Fear and hopeless
  • Confusion
  • Difficulty in concentrating etc

So many people go about their daily activities wearing a smiling face but when they are all alone, they remove the mask they have on and shed bitter tears.

Most people who safe harm do so as a way to deal with emotional trauma rather than as a cry for help.
This affect up to 17% of our adolescents and Young adults in the 21st century.

There is a difference between being genuinely happy and pretending to be happy. So many people are not genuinely happy, they put up a show each day to make other people feel they are all right, when you are genuinely happy, you feel it deep down in your soul, when you are all alone there's no feeling of pain.

Emotional pain is the worst type of pain because nobody knows you are hurting just you! An accident survivor may seem okay on the outside but when series of tests are Carried out, the hidden problems are identified.
This also applied in our lives,we should try as much as possible to know people close to us to know when they are pretending to be happy so we won't add salt to injury through our words or actions.
Little wonder, when we hear of a person's demise,we say "I saw her yesterday and she was just fine". We didn't know the secret battles he/she was struggling with.

There is a popular saying "a problem shared is half solved" that is true to an extent but these days,"a problem shared becomes a topic of discussion" . people are scared to share their deepest pains and sorrows with others to avoid being used as a topic of discussion.
Let's try to be reliable, dependable and trustworthy so people close to us can confide in us without any fear.

Examine people closely, don't just assume everyone is okay, have a discerning spirit. Whenever we are going to challenges, tell someone. I know you are scared but tell someone after all, not all eggs in a basket is spoilt, there are still good people out there just that the bad people are more, from time to time, we go through emotional breakdown and most people are unable to handle it there by taking their lives.
I'm glad @bestkizito was able to survive from this emotional trauma
Try to pull through, get treatment!
