My Murderland
Raymondkay
On the left, nothing is right
On the right, nothing is left
East has hissed and west is waste
North is nought and south is sad
the four cardinal points repel with hate
maybe the king would know when to separate the clans
after the fire from the west wastes the north which is nought
motherland then, murderland now
where man once found safety
man meets his death
you call me brother when we eat
but when I turned my back
you stab me with smiling lips
how do you speak from both
sides of the mouth
and still have your words right?
Oh murderland, once we were united
by hope and dreams
but now we're united by oil
and separated by hàte
oh how right the preacher was
for indeed, divided we live
united we die
motherland, murderland
shaga boom shaga booms
these are the relics of our treasured past
the sound that sends happy couples to yonder lands with grief
and teaches a child how to die in sleep
Shaga boom shaga booms
we once had a motherland
now all that's left of us is murderland
Nigeria we wail thee
home of peace that piece our skins
Mother land murderland!
but the little child said
don't tell my mother
just give out my uniforms and my books
if by tomorrow my classmates asked of me in school
tell them I met God and death in church
tell them to take my seats, and erase my name from the register
maybe when I shall return,
I shall meet men with human face
until then, good night, murderland and fartherland
