TINUBU FIRST SPEECH AS THE NEW PRESIDENT VOWS TO END POVERTY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his unwavering commitment to eradicate poverty in Nigeria during his inaugural speech as the 16th President of the country.

Standing at Eagle Square on Monday, May 29, 2023, Tinubu outlined his vision for a progressive and well-governed Nigeria, where every citizen can prosper.

In his address, Tinubu emphasized that his administration would be guided by the principles of impartial governance based on the rule of law as enshrined in the constitution.

He pledged to protect the nation from the threats of terrorism and other forms of criminality that undermine peace and stability.

Economic transformation was a key aspect of Tinubu's agenda. He spoke of remodeling the Nigerian economy to achieve robust growth and develop the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to even greater heights.

Tinubu assured the citizens that his administration would focus on job creation, ensuring food security, and putting an end to extreme poverty.

The new President also took a moment to acknowledge his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, recognizing his honesty and patriotism. Tinubu commended Buhari for his efforts in leading the nation and acknowledged the contributions made during his tenure.

The inauguration ceremony proceeded with Kashim Shettima taking the oath of office as the Vice President of Nigeria. Chief Justice of the Federation, Olukayode Ariwoola, administered the oath to President Tinubu at 10:40 am, followed by the swearing-in of Vice President Shettima.
