New dawn in Kogi as Ododo takes over from Yahaya Bello
In a momentous shift in Kogi's governance, Alhaji Usman Ododo is poised to take the reins from Yahaya Bello today, January 27.
Elected on the APC ticket in the November 11, 2023 governorship election, Ododo secured 446,237 votes, triumphing over SDP's Murtala Ajaka with 259,052 votes.
Despite a challenge from Ajaka, Ododo is set to assume the role, succeeding Bello, becoming the second from Kogi's Central senatorial district to occupy the Lord Lugard House.
Bello had disrupted the East Senatorial District's governorship monopoly in 2015.
As Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, buzzes with excitement for Ododo's inauguration, the State Police Command issues a stern warning to potential troublemakers.
Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha emphasized that security forces are prepared to decisively handle any disruption, urging citizens to express grievances through legal means to maintain peace.
The police, vigilant against planned attacks on guests, are resolute in upholding the state's tranquility.
Onuoha encourages law-abiding citizens to collaborate by providing credible information to safeguard against any potential threats to peace and order.
