সরিষা চাষে স্বচ্ছলতার মুখ দেখেছেন হবিগঞ্জের রাজিউরা ইউনিয়নের প্রায় ৩০০ কৃষক। সেই সাথে যে জমিতে আগে এক ফসল হত সেখানে এখন ৩টি ফসল ফলাতে পারছেন তারা।

ওই ইউনিয়নে ১৫০ হেক্টর অনাবাধী জমিকে ৩ ফসলের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। সেখানে বছরে মাত্র একটি ফসল হত সেখানে রবি মৌসুমে সরিষা, গম আর ধান এই তিন ফসল ফলিয়ে সফলতার মূখ দেখেছেন কৃষকরা।

কৃষি বিভাগ সূত্রে জানা যায়, হবিগঞ্জ সদর উপজেলা পরিষদ তহবিল থেকে প্রায় ৩০০ কৃষককে (বারি-১৪) জাতের সরিষা বীজ, একটি এলএলপি (সেচ মেশিন) প্রদান করা হয়। এবং সদর উপজেলার কৃষি উন্নয়ন বিষয়ক কোর কমিটির উদ্যোগে রাজিউরা ইউনিয়নের উচাইল, শংকরপাশা ও চারিনাও গ্রামে কর্মসুচির আওতায় ১৪০ হেক্টর সরিষা, ৫ হেক্টর গম ও ৫ হেক্টর ধান আবাদ করা হয়েছে।

চলতি মৌসুমে শুধুমাত্র ১৪০ হেক্টর জমি থেকে ৩০ লাখ টাকা নীট মুনাফা অর্জিত হবে বলে আশা করছে কৃষি বিভাগ।

স্থানীয় উপকারভোগি ছামসু মিয়া জানান, ‘গভীর নলকুপের মাধ্যমে এই এলাকায় পানি সেচের মাধ্যমে আরো ২০০ একর জমি চাষাবাদের আওতায় আনা সম্ভব।’

তিনি বলেন, ‘বর্তমান সরকার কৃষিবান্ধব সরকার। তাই আমার আসা করছি সরকার আমাদের সহযোগিতা করবেন এবং কৃষিক্ষেত্রে আমরা আরো এগিয়ে যেত পারব। আগামী এক বছরের মধ্যে গভীর নলকুপ বসানো হলে এখানে আরো বিপুল পরিমান শষ্য উৎপাদন করা যাবে।’

থানীয় কৃষক মহিবুর হাসান বলেন, ‘এক সময় এখানে শুধু মাত্র একটি ফসল ফলানো সম্ভব হত। কিন্তু সরকারের আন্তরীকতায় এবং কৃষি বিভাগের সহযোগিতায় আমরা বছরে তিনটি ফসল চাষ করে লাভবান হচ্ছি।’

রাজিউরা ইউনিয়নের (উচাইল ব্লক) এর উপ-সহকারী কৃষি কর্মকর্তা সুনীল চন্দ্র দাস বলেন, এই এলাকার বিস্তীর্ণ হাওড় এলাকায় একটির বেশি ফসল ফলানো সম্ভব হত না। গত কয়েক বছর ধরে কৃষি বিভাগ ওই এলাকার কৃষকদের উদ্বুদ্ধ করে সরিষা চাষ ও গম চাষে উৎসাহিত করেছে। ফলে এখন এখানে ধান ছাড়াও সরিষা আর গম চাষ করা হচ্ছে। এখন ওই এলাকায় যতদূর চোখ যায় শুধু সবুজ আর হলুদ।

উপজেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ কর্মকর্তা বিমল চন্দ্র সোম বলেন, এখানে তিন ফসল চাষ নিশ্চিত করার জন্য গভীর নলকুপ বসানো হবে। এর জন্য বিএডিসির মাধ্যমে প্রকল্প গ্রহণেল কার্যক্রম চলছে। এছাড়াও রাজিউরা ইউনিয়নের হুরগাঁও ও পাঠকালী গ্রামে এ বছর ২২০ হেক্টর জমিতে সরিষা ও গম চাষ করা হয়েছে। যা গত বছরের তুলনায় ৭০ হেক্টর বেশি।

জেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের উপ-পরিচালক মো. শাহ্ আলম বলেন, ২০১৫-১৬ অর্থ বছরে বৃহত্তর সিলেট বিভাগে আনাবাদী জমি চাষের আওতায় আনার কর্মসুচির অংশ হিসেবে হবিগঞ্জ জেলার ৮ উপজেলায় ১ হাজার ৮০০ হেক্টর অনাবাদী জমি চাষের আওতায় আনা হয়েছে। চলতি বছরের প্রথমিক পর্যায়ে প্রতিটি উপজেলার একটি করে ইউনিয়ন নির্বাচন করা হয়েছে। এতে করে শুধু মাত্র হবিগঞ্জ জেলা থেকে প্রতিবছর প্রায় ৫ হাজার মেট্রিক টন রবি শষ্য উৎপাদন হবে।

According to Agriculture Department sources, about 300 farmers (Bari-14) were given mustard seeds and an LLP (irrigation machine) from Habiganj Sadar Upazila Parishad fund. And 140 hectares of mustard, 5 hectares of wheat and 5 hectares of paddy have been planted in Uchail, Shankarpasha and Charinao villages of Rajiura Union under the initiative of Core Committee on Agriculture Development of Sadar Upazila.

The agriculture department expects to earn a net profit of Tk 3 million from only 140 hectares of land this season.

Local beneficiary Chamsu Mia said, "It is possible to bring 200 acres of land under cultivation by irrigating the area through deep tube wells."

He said, "The present government is an agri-friendly government. So I am coming, the government will support us and we will be able to go further in agriculture. With the installation of deep tube wells in the next one year, it will be possible to produce a huge amount of grain here. '

Sunil Chandra Das, deputy assistant agriculture officer of Rajyura Union (Uchail block), said it would not have been possible to grow more than one crop in the vast haor area of ​​the area. Over the last few years, the Department of Agriculture has encouraged farmers in the area to cultivate mustard and wheat. As a result, besides paddy, mustard and wheat are also being cultivated here. Now, as far as the eye can see in that area, only green and yellow.

Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Bimal Chandra Som said deep tube wells would be installed here to ensure cultivation of three crops. For this, project adoption activities are going on through BADC. Besides, mustard and wheat have been cultivated in 220 hectares of land in Hurgaon and Pathakali villages of Rajiura union this year. Which is 70 hectares more than last year.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension. Shah Alam said 1,600 hectares of uncultivated land has been brought under cultivation in 6 upazilas of Habiganj district as part of the program to bring uncultivated land under cultivation in greater Sylhet division in 2015-16 financial year. At the initial stage of this year, one union has been elected in each upazila. This will produce about 5000 metric tons of Robi grain every year from Habiganj district alone.
