Cape Byron Lighthouse in Byron Bay is perched up on the rocky headlands on Australia's easterly point giving you breathtaking views over the Pacific Ocean it is the icon of Byron Bay and the most visited in this town, the lighthouse was constructed in the early 20th century and did not have to be a tall lighthouse, it's only 22 meters tall because it already had the advantage point of sitting 94 meters above sea level with stunning panoramic views. The lighthouse also has a maritime museum giving you a historical insight of the lighthouse and the town of Byron Bay.
The other two popularities this lighthouse lookout point, is that you can watch the most amazing sun rises over the Pacific Ocean and between the months of June and November each year, you can see tens of thousands of humpback whales passing through along the coastline a spectacular event to witness.
You will see many people jogging from the Byron Bay beach up to the lighthouse it's about a 3.5km jog one way as you approach the lighthouse you will face 10,000 steps you can either jog up or walk up these steps to get to the highest point of the lighthouse enjoying breathtaking views along the way.
