Now that Starlink has been given a nod by the Nigerian government, it is pleasing to anticipate the battles to come as the homeboys are pitted against the newcomer.
Starlink costs $99/month at 300Mbps and growing to 1Gbsp. Homeboys supply between 200kbps and 4Mbps in private measurements.
Elon Musk twitted last night that a Starlink unit can serve a small school "with hundreds of students". I don't know any of our service providers that can cover such a facility at an acceptable speed for $99/mo.
Where this takes us is that people may resort to sharing with say, 10 homes or officers staying on a unit at sizzling 300Mbps and splitting $99 monthly. It is still a far greater speed than whatever any regular GSM service provider gives you at this time or can promise. It makes sense.
