Undoubtably family should be above everything else, family love never fades away. Don't you agree to that. But I guess we should also prioritize finding love through society and friendships in the same way some of us prioritize finding love. I hope some day we all, shake, bless and appreciate the hands of those who stood by us. Not giving up in what we truly believe in.

Should we count family only when bound by blood

I don't think so because because some friends are like family, they tend to play the same role in your life as a family.

Family might not always be there to protect you from harm or anything else but they pray for you, assist you through the toughest times and give you guidelines that will help you diffuse, counter and keep some situations from occurring.
Also giving a voice to you when you can't speak, providing a home to call home, giving you hope, putting you on the right track, when you fall they'll pull you back up. Family tell you that you're wrong when you are, whether you like it or not, because they want you to be discipline and great.

Family is peace, support, blessings, unconditional love andfamily understands you.
Cherish your family, pray for them, never give up on them or let them down.
