FOOD FOR THOUGHT: REPAY GOOD

in r2cornell •  2 years ago

It is intriguing how some of us fear being thought of as weak, but do not mind being perceived as wicked or evil. Like Okonkwo, in "Things Fall Apart", we go to great lengths to show or proof that we are not weak, but sometimes bask in the often erroneous perception that we are wicked or evil. One would have thought that being created by God who is Good, and in his own image and likeness, we would have been more bent on being identified as good and abhor being thought of as wicked or evil. Alas, human nature beats me here once again.

As a corollary, we are very slow to repay the good done to us, perhaps we do not even remember or appreciate them profoundly enough; but when it comes to the hurts and wrongs we have suffered, we stop at nothing to repay them with greater wrongs and hurts, we engrave it in our hearts and sometimes pass it on to our children after us. What a shame!

This culture of repaying evil and forgetting good has to change, and it has to change urgently. We are children of the Good God, and we should pursue only those things that give him glory; therefore we should note carefully and repay deliberately, any good we have benefitted, while doing our utmost to forgive and forgive any hurts and wrongs we may suffer, as we must. That is how to contribute in making goodness triumph over evil, thereby creating a culture of goodness and a spiral of good.

By all means, my friend, repay good with greater goodness and forgive all wrongs and hurts.

Peace be with you!
