When I was younger I would hear the train blaring its horns from the train's path to our home even though the rail track is about 1 Km. Then in the late 80's I was not hearing it anymore, they stopped the journey from manila to the province north of us.
The train system got neglected by the past administrations due to the lack of political will and incompetency. The past few administrations before the outgoing presidency of Mr. Duterte were a terrible thing things to happen in the Philippines, they were vengeful political allies against the Marcoses. All those that had been built and started by Marcoses were abandoned if not discontinued and some national assets and business were also sold.
Anyway the train system that will pass through our town is in the works right now but it will not be operational until the first phase is done, meaning that the adjacent section will go on operation first before our town and to the north.
I just hope that the route will continue further north in the mountains up to the tip of the main island because it will boost the trade of good from the nations vegetable source and down to our town and in the capital Manila.
I like that to happen for the purpose of vegetables becoming more affordable because with the price of fuel now the transport of these vegetables via Trucks and other vehicles other than the supposed train becomes more expensive and of course they will pass it to the consumers. That is why common people could not afford broccoli and cauliflower because once they hit the grocery they are just prohibitively expensive.
That is why I wanted the train to get revived not only that I wanted to ride in it but because of the economic impact that it will do to my country's economy and that it will make people to commute easily and be more productive than spending and wasting time in busses and other mode of transport.
This train project is only one part of the so-called "Build, build, build" initiative of my current government and will be continued by the elected President, now we are heading towards much progress as more government infrastructures are done for the benefit of the citizens.
I am really happy for you. The train system began to function properly in my city last year too and it has been such a great help to the masses
