In the era before television and the internet were fully popularized, newspapers became an important source of information for people, and at that time, newspapers became almost exclusive to leaders and office staff. I used to see that retired leaders and cadres hold a stack of newspapers in their hands or under their armpits, and you could also imagine the way they were reading newspapers - wearing reading glasses or holding magnifying glasses in their hands, fully engrossed, burying themselves in the newspaper. Or with a newspaper covering the face and half of the body, almost no one could see the figure.
Newspapers have become exclusive to leaders or white-collar workers, and ordinary people like me can only stretch their heads in front of the newspaper bulletin board in the community, gradually searching for the content they are interested in. Later on, when I came into contact with outdated newspapers, I would copy the content I liked or simply learn to cut the newspaper, cut out the content I liked, and paste it on a notebook. But looking at the newspapers with their skylights opened one by one, I couldn't bear it and gave up this barbaric behavior. At that time, I thought, when can I have the newspaper I like to read?
After entering the new unit, I came into contact with various newspapers, including over a dozen. With the rapid development of internet technology, newspapers are no longer an important channel for people to obtain information. Or perhaps people are busy with promotions and getting wealth, and few people are interested in the content in newspapers, which give me an opportunity to take advantage of it. Every day, there is a large pile of newspapers piled up there, and I can choose from them. Isn't that great!
Among the major national newspapers, I prefer the literary section of Guangming Daily. The articles in it are all highbrow, elegant and professional, making it unparalleled. I only have a perspective because I feel that it is far from my life.
Local newspapers, such as the Qilu Evening News in Shandong, are difficult to see elsewhere due to geographical limitations. Can you easily see them outside Shandong? And the Mount Taishan Evening News in my city, can I still see its trace after leaving the small city of Tai'an?
I like the articles in the evening papers, but I still feel some regrets. Afterall these articles still have a certain distance from our lives.
In mid April this year, my wife and I went to Shanghai to visit our daughter, who became a mother, which was also a great joy.
At my daughter's house, I accidentally came across several copies of the "Xinmin Evening News". After flipping through them, I was attracted by the content inside and couldn't help but feel that this was the newspaper that flew into ordinary people's house and made up for my regret.
On the homepage of the Xinmin Evening News, it was written that "it was founded in 1929 and flew into the house of ordinary people". With doubts about "what is Xinmin", I searched Baidu and found the following content:
Focus on "flying into the house of ordinary people". In terms of content, strive for approachability, accessibility, credibility, and readability. The name of the newspaper "Xinmin Daily" has two meanings: one is to inherit the revolutionary tradition of the organ newspaper "Min Bao" when Sun Yat sen founded the Chinese Revolutionary League in Tokyo. The second is to take the "Da Ya" section of the Book of Songs as the meaning of cultivating new people. On April 1, 1958, the evening edition of Xinmin Daily was renamed as Xinmin Evening News.
Thus, it was possible to provide explanations for both the new "Min Bao" and the "New People’s Daily", with a pun on it and a lot of humor.
The Xinmin Evening News has a total of 16 pages, divided into sections such as Important News, Shanghai News, Sports News, and Nightlight Cup. The Nightlight Cup layout takes up two layouts on weekdays and eight layouts on Sundays. What is the Nightlight Cup? It is a precious drinking vessel made of jade. When the wine is placed in a glass and placed in the moonlight, the glass will shine brightly, hence the name Nightlight Cup. The originally published articles were just fine wine, which would shine brightly when placed in the Nightlight Cup column.
Of course, not all wines can be matched with a luminous glass. These articles are short and concise, close to life, and use precise words, giving people a beautiful enjoyment. And it was my first time reading such good articles, like enjoying a spring breeze, listening to the stories of ordinary people one by one.
This was my encounter with the "Xinmin Evening News". In addition to being happy, I decided to take those few copies of the "Xinmin Evening News" back to my own home and read them carefully. In this way, this newspaper, along with the stories in it, can fly into the house of an ordinary person like me.
