Greetings to you all, I will use this wonderful opportunity to write about my community, I will love you all to go through
Rumuelechi community
I am a native of Rumuelechi community, located at mile 3 diobu portharcourt
The community is a well developed community because civilization has taken place there, its location is in portharcourt city, the capital of Rivers State.
The community is made up of 5 families namely; Ihunwo family, Okpara family, Amadi family, Orlu family and Chinda family. These are the 5 sons of Elechi that's why it is called Rumuelechi meaning "Children of Elechi".
People in Rumuelechi
We have peaceful people and we do things in love and harmony and we respect our culture. Some things you will want to know about Rumuelechi people are;
- We dont do inter-marraige, i.e we don't marry each other.
- our major occupation is fishing and farming but since the community is so developed many now go into trading, some are doing white collar jobs, some are going to school and some are working in companies, factories and so on.
- We also have dignitaries that are known and has made us proud, people like Honourable Victor ihunwo(the present mayor of Port Harcourt) and Hon. Austin Okpara(Former deputy speaker, house of representative).
