Converting the database is not difficult of course. If someone wants to do it, at most I can do it. Looking at the structure of the database, this can be done very easily using sqlitebrowser, and you can probably do it from the command line too.
The assumption for me is that the database can be easily run on mine. SQLite3 in my opinion fulfils this perfectly.
Because, of course, I want access to be free for everyone (via SQLite-Web and the option to download the whole database), but I wouldn't be surprised if there are people who want to deliberately harm the project (via the web interface).
On the other hand, I am not ruling anything out.
You mentioned downloading, what size are we talking about for the database?
I estimate ~5GB without compression (and without comment body). I would also like to introduce temporary snapshots in the future. Someone may need data that is not necessarily current, but from a particular day. But that, too, is some time away.
And for the local database, some kind of update system needs to be carried out.
