Shahar Yeri, the city of speechless stone people
In the village of "Pir Azmian", 50 km from Ardabil province and 30 km from the city of "Meshkinshahr", there is an ancient site that has often attracted local residents to see the mouthless erected stones.
The name of this old site is "Shahar Yeri" and "Yeri" itself means the city.
The city was built during the Bronze and Iron Ages and covers 200 hectares.
This ancient site is estimated to date back to 7000 BC.
This area has an ancient castle in the Bronze Age, the foundations of which are still preserved, and the unnamed prehistoric cemeteries around the castle, show the antiquity of the city.
The Temple of Remembrance in the center of the city continues to attract the eyes of tourists.
These standing stones of the urban area seem to be the guardians of the temple who have no mouth to speak, because they have not put their mouths on the stones and do not tell the secret of several thousand years with their silence.
It is interesting to know that in Shahar Yeri, not only the raised stones of men with swords can be seen, but also the group of women can be seen in these raised stones.
The women of these sculptures have woven wigs, which shows the role of the oldest woven wigs of Iranian women on the stones.
How the group of women was distinguished from men is a mystery that archaeologists in the area have found the answer to.
Burial heads have been obtained from the women's graves in the city cemetery, and the shape of the same head of the pin has been engraved on the wig of five groups of Shahar Yeri women.
This engraved head pin indicates that a group of women, often holding swords around their waists, are protecting their temple and religion.

The height of these sculptures varies from about 30 cm to 1.7 meters.
But what is the secret of these speechless human beings?
In this historical cemetery, about three hundred stones in the form of human sculptures have been discovered.
It is interesting that the shape of a human face is engraved on these stones, but these sculptures do not have mouths.
Of course, there are various hypotheses about the reason for not having the mouth of these raised stones.
What is more interesting is that among all the statues that are in the form of mouthless men, there is only one female statue, and only in this case is this the only woman who has a mouth.
The history of this city shows that the social rights of men and women are equal to the extent that even their spokesperson is a woman and her oral stone is present in this area.
Some people believe that during religious rituals, no one has the right to speak, and for this reason, the image of the mouth is not engraved on the stones, and the only person who has the right to speak is the speaker.
