Everything happens for a reason...

It seems far-fetched, I know, but everything in context makes sense. There are specific events that we could see as a tragedy, being somewhat exaggerated, but that we do live in the mode of gratitude, we know that they only protect us from a worse situation.

I will tell you something not subtle, when my dad passed away, I felt very sad and hurt, although I knew he would be in a better place, I firmly believe that, I wanted things to have happened in a different way, everything was very sudden. Then something curious happened, a childhood friend, with whom I had not spoken for years, I would say more than 10 years, called me just in those days. Since he knew my parents he asked me about them, so I told him what had happened and how bad I felt about it.

Then he proceeded to tell his story: His father had also passed to another plane, but he was in suffering mode for years because of the cruel disease that invaded him. It was such a difficult thing for the family, that they were all at each other's throats, sharing the blame and now they don't even speak to each other. They even moved to another city.

As strange or hard as it sounds, after hearing it, my heart felt grateful that we didn't go through all that. My dad just left and I know God was protecting me somehow, because that night my brothers had called me when he was admitted to the clinic, but I had already gone to bed and listened to the messages in the morning when he was gone. I made the decision not to see him afterwards, I didn't want to remember him that way, so I only remember him in life and I think it was the best thing to do. Letting go of loved ones, is a way to honor them, no one who loves us wants our suffering, but we tend to be irrational in this sense and only think of the emptiness it leaves in us. Recovering takes time, for everyone it is different.

Actually, when I started writing, I had no idea that I would tell that episode of my life. But it's there for a reason.

What motivated my title today, was the fact that my husband and I had gone out to a meeting, but it was cancelled, so my husband took the opportunity to go to the gas station because our vehicle was already low on gas. While we were there, the car crashed and did not want to start anymore. My husband had to look for some of his mother's neighbors who lived near where we were and then they towed us to our home.

I was in the car, while my husband went to get help, it was very sunny.

We had just completed to buy the two tires he needed to travel, since we have to go to a sporting event in which my son will change his Karate belt and it is in another city. We have had to spend the money for the tires twice already. Then I commented to my husband that again we were going to have to use that money to repair our truck, he very wisely told me that thank God we had an accident here and not on the road. I quickly reacted, he was right. Then I thanked God.

I believe that everything happens for a reason and that it will always be for our well-being, even if we do not understand it at the time. Therefore, we must trust that everything will be all right and move forward trying to learn from each event what it has to teach us, without ever forgetting to be thankful, that is what gives the best results.

Hi @syllem, this is a thoughtful post with very interesting story and serious lessons need to be learnt from these experiences.

Everything really happens for a reason. We just need to take the positive out of everything that is happening in our life.
