¿Qué haría o sería capaz de hacer si domino bien otro idioma?

Wow!. Este tema está muy, pero muy interesante porque creo que si dominó perfectamente un idioma diferente a mi lengua materna, que por cierto es el español, simplemente creo que sería capaz de sentir mayor seguridad a la hora de exponer sobre cualquier tema en cualquier audiencia. Me volvería mejor oradora tanto para compartir aspectos del área personal, como del área profesional. En mi caso específico como científica o mujer de ciencia, empoderada y en el área de las ciencias ambientales a nivel general creo que tendría mayor posibilidad porque podría llegar a más personas para llevar el mensaje. En estos momentos me sería de gran utilidad porque deseo buscar financiamiento para seguir trabajando por la ciencia y el ambiente en mi país.

Para ser honesta me gusta muchísimo los idiomas, y me gustaría aprender hablar italiano, portugués, inglés y francés. Con los dos últimos he estado más en contacto, cuando estaba terminando el doctorado, pero aunque estuve casi en una inmersión lingüística mi enfoque era la tesis doctoral, así que no pude dedicarme a otras cosas de lleno como los idiomas. Además era costoso y no disponía de recursos económicos.

No tomé clases o me dediqué a leer o que se yo, solo intenté no morir de hambrea, así que con mímicas o como sea logré hacerlo. Creo que eso es lo más importante lograr comunicarse. No obstante, aunque estuve afuera poco tiempo. Logré agarrar algo, y en un momento que regresé a Venezuela yo traté de no perderlo. Yo sé que me falta mucho, pero igual aunque soy adulta me gustaría retornar algunas cosas, vamos a ver si lo logro.

Yo en ese entonces iba aprendiendo en la calle, a modo intuitivo y de supervivencia. Aprendí de forma difusa, y no de forma enfocada, en la cotidianidad de la vida y así es una forma bastante interesante de aprender. Pero, por supuesto, es más lenta. Seguramente requiere de más tiempo. Sobre todo cuando hablamos de la escritura.

Los idiomas son muy importantes, porque en está realidad, en este aquí y ahora la tecnología a acortado las distancias y aumentado las posibilidades, quizás anteriormente nosotros no veíamos la fundamental de conocer otros idiomas, pero actualmente sobre todo los más jóvenes lo han entendido y hablan más de tres.

Por otra parte, creo que las personas que son políglotas o que al menos son bilingües desarrollan y entrenan otras partes del cerebro, por eso tienen más capacidad de raciocinio y, más facilidad a la hora de tomar decisiones, ven el mundo de forma divergente. Es interesante que leamos un poco sobre eso, que es un tema de la neurociencia. De esta forma podemos conocer como desarrollar nuestras habilidades.

Así podemos desmitificarnos, dejar esas creencias erradas de por estar mayores no somos capaces de aprender o hacer cualquier cosa. Yo por ejemplo, deseo retomar mis clases de inglés y de francés e inclusive involucrar algunos otros idiomas aunque no llegue hablarlos con perfección solo porque me encanta conocer diferentes idiomas me encanta comunicarme con las personas y aprender cosas nuevas.

Yo sinceramente deseo que todos puedan encontrar eso que les gusta, ya sean los idiomas u otras cosas y que puedan permitirse aprender y disfrutar del proceso, verlo como un juego y disfrutar la vida.

What would I do or be able to do if I have a good command of another language?

This topic is very, very interesting because I think that if he perfectly mastered a language other than my mother tongue, which by the way is Spanish, I simply think that he would be able to feel more secure when speaking on any subject in any audience. I would become a better speaker both to share aspects of the personal area, as well as the professional area. In my specific case as a scientist or woman of science, empowered and in the area of environmental sciences at a general level, I think I would have a greater possibility because I could reach more people to carry the message. At this time it would be very useful to me because I want to seek financing to continue working for science and the environment in my country.

To be honest, I really like languages, and I would like to learn to speak Italian, Portuguese, English, and French. I have been more in contact with the last two when I was finishing my doctorate, but although I was almost in a linguistic immersion my focus was the doctoral thesis, so I could not dedicate myself to other things like languages. It was also expensive and did not have financial resources.

I did not take classes or dedicate myself to reading or what do I know, I just tried not to starve, so with mimics or whatever I managed to do it. I think that is the most important thing to be able to communicate. However, even though I was away for a short time. I managed to grab something, and at one point when I returned to Venezuela I tried not to lose it. I know I have a long way to go, but even though I am an adult I would like to return some things, let's see if I can do it.

At that time I was learning in the street, intuitively and in a survival way. I learned in a diffuse way, and not in a focused way, in the daily life of life and this is a quite interesting way to learn. But of course, it is slower. It surely requires more time. Especially when we talk about writing.

Languages are very important, because in this reality, in this here and now technology has shortened distances and increased possibilities, perhaps previously we did not see the fundamental of knowing other languages, but currently, especially the younger ones have understood it and more than three speak.

On the other hand, I think that people who are polyglots or who are at least bilingual develop and train other parts of the brain, that is why they have more reasoning capacity and, more easily when making decisions, they see the world in a divergent way. It's interesting that we read a bit about that, which is a neuroscience topic. In this way, we can know how to develop our skills.

So we can demystify ourselves, leave those wrong beliefs that because we are older we are not able to learn or do anything. For example, I want to resume my English and French classes and even involve some other languages even though I can't speak them perfectly just because I love knowing different languages, I love communicating with people and learning new things.

I sincerely hope that everyone can find what they like, be it languages or other things and that they can allow themselves to learn and enjoy the process, see it as a game and enjoy life.
