It's expected that the Tampa, Florida region will be struck by a Category 4 Hurricane Ian which will be devastating region. Since we're here in Orlando, it's likely we will have continuously sustained winds that reach category 2 or maybe 3 speeds.
The storm is likely to pass right through Orlando, but the eye of the storm may drift north or south according to some models. My family has been keeping an eye on the storm and we have already completed locking down our home. We've got metal aluminum awnings that are currently closed, and for the windows that don't have this metallic protection we've boarded them up with some plywood and we've just taped the inside of the window just incase if something happens to break through the plywood.
My family isn't likely to stay in our humble mobile home during this time. According to my mother, she wants us to get a hotel somewhere, most likely we're heading to the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel (which I used to work for a construction company that works with them). The Rosen family of hotels has always been there for my family, honestly. During storms and even for some cheaper deals, the engineers and General Managers have always stuck out their necks for our team. So I'm grateful for them.
Things are getting pretty hectic, so please if you can after the storm please donate to organizations, or to food banks because the coastline will be absolutely wrecked by this storm.
