The East Kutai Regency Government (Kutim) is preparing Susur Sungai as one of the tourist attractions in Sangatta. Through the Tourism Office or Dispar Kutim, susur sungai tourism product development training has been held in October 2021.
Furthermore, Dispar Kutim matured the pre-tourist facilities of Susur Sungai by making a pier. Head of Dispar Kutim, Nurullah said that his party had prepared two pontoon units that would later be used in this tour.
"Two pontoon units have been prepared to go down the river," he said when met in the workspace, Wednesday (16/2/2022).
The pontoon which is a traditional river crossing tool is then beautified with painting. Not only pontoons, a number of bridges that pass over the Sangatta River are also beautified with colorful paint. Later, Susur Sungai Tourism can be enjoyed by tourists with a travel time of approximately 90 minutes downstream of the river.
"The direction is downstream, the distance is approximately 1.5 hours," he told TribunKaltim. This tour was initiated because many pontoon drivers lost customers after masabang bridge was built.
Customers no longer use pontoons to cross, and take advantage of the bridges the government has built.
"Cantonons are no longer used, so we make this River Stacking tour," he said.
