My Life in Oman

in lifestyle •  last year

Sometimes when people ask me where I live and I say Muscat, they get confused because they do not know where exactly is Muscat on the Map. Then I tell them it's a city in Oman. Even that many people do not know where Oman is on the world map. Eventually I have to tell them it's next to Dubai. When I say it's neighboring Country of Dubai, they think it is like Dubai. But the fact is that Dubai and Muscat are poles apart places.

Dubai as we all know is the most glamorous place of the Middle East and if we talk about Oman we can say exactly opposite, that Oman is the most sober place in Middle East. It's not a conservative place at all but the life here is very slow pace. Whereas Dubai is like a mad rush. In all of Oman there are no buildings which are more then 10 floors. This is a rule of the Ministry that no construction can go beyond 10 floors. It is with a reason. Oman is surrounded by Mountains and Sea, to preserve the natural beauty of the place this decision is maintained. Even in the city you will be able to see the Mountains around. It looks nice to see nature blend in with city life.

I do like Oman's life, it's simple with not much of show business. Also, it's easy on the lifestyle, not expensive as Dubai. One can live here and save money, whereas in Dubai it is difficult to save money. But what I enjoy most about this place is the natural beauty that it's surrounded with. It's easy to travel up to the mountains and get completely cut off. There is peace, there is not much of crowd anywhere you go. You can enjoy the quiet moments of life.

I have this strong urge of settling back in India soon again and being with my family, but deep down in my heart I also know that once I shift back permanently, I am going to miss this place a lot. It's tranquility and peacefulness. The good slow pace life that I have here which gives me a lot of my own Me time, is all going to be missed. I feel sometimes that being here in this place has been one blessing of my life and life has taught me here to slow down and appreciate the little joys of life.
