The Power of Authenticity: Building Stronger Connections Through Honesty

in life •  2 years ago

We've all seen the statistics. People don't buy from people they like. They buy from people they trust.

Trust builds relationships. Relationship builds trust. Authenticity creates a strong connection. When we tell our audience who we really are, our fans and readers connect with us on a deeper level.

But you won't always be able to put a face or personality on every blog post or video you share. This isn't always an option, and in many cases, it's not desirable. But there are still ways to give your brand personality without coming off too fake.

Here are five ways to make your brand more human:

  1. Speak From the Heart

The easiest way to humanize your brand is to speak from the heart. Do you ever get the feeling that an influencer or blogger you respect is putting on a fake persona? If so, why is he or she able to sell to you without speaking their own mind?

When bloggers and content creators tell you who they really are, you know they're being genuine. And when they're honest about the reasons why they do what they do, you feel connected to them.

So if you want to build stronger connections with your audience, don't pretend to be someone you're not. Instead, be real. Speak from the heart and be authentic.

  1. Be Human

Just because a brand or blogger is honest doesn't mean they have to be boring. By speaking from the heart, they can still create a memorable experience and build stronger connections.

One of my favorite bloggers writes about music and has a unique perspective on the industry. He's incredibly authentic and relatable and I can always count on him for some funny quotes or a good story. He's not afraid to tell me who he is, but also knows how to keep me interested in his posts.

When we humanize our brands, people can see that we're real people. We become relatable and even interesting to our audience.

  1. Be Yourself

Just as we can't always be authentic, we can't always be ourselves. Sometimes our brands need to project an image that is very different from the one we use in real life. For example, a blogger might write about health, nutrition, food and fitness for most of her posts, but post cat photos for others.

In this case, she's projecting a fun, loving image for her fitness and food posts, but her cats and food blogs show a different side of herself.

When we create brands that represent who we really are, we're showing a deeper side of ourselves. We're more honest and transparent because we're expressing the person behind the brand. This increases the likelihood that people will connect with us.

  1. Tell Stories

What's the best way to connect with people? Stories.

Our brains naturally want to connect with things that are real and relatable. When brands share stories, they connect with us on a deeper level and build stronger connections.
