Dressing- Pelvic Laparotomy

in life •  last year

As what i posted last day, i had an ectopic pregnancy and had a pelvic laparatomy. A laparotomy is a surgical incision (cut) into the abdominal cavity. This operation is performed to examine the abdominal organs and aid diagnosis of any problems, including abdominal pain.
I was advised to have dressing atleast once a day, after taking a bath.

A wound dressing is a type of bandage used to cover a wound by sticking to the surrounding skin using wound dressing tape or glue. Wound dressings come in the form of a gel (hydrogel), foam, gauze, bandage, or any other wound dressing patches. They help prevent infection, encourage healing, and reduce pain.
There are 5 rules of wound dressing. These five principles include wound assessment, wound cleansing, timely dressing change, selection of appropriate dressings, and antibiotic use. You must assess your wound and see if the wound is healed.
Do you know what is the purpose of dressing? A dressing is used to protect a wound and prevent infection, but also to allow healing. A dressing should be large enough to totally cover the wound, with a safety margin of about 2.5 cm on all sides beyond the wound.
This is what a pelvic laparotomy looks like. Similarly like cs(cesarian section), but the thing is no baby came out😢.

Praying for fast recovery, both physical and emotional, and always been thankful for the prayers and support from family and friends.
