Finding the right perspective 👹🍣🎎 My Japan

Even if we often tell ourselves that the city or region we live in has no secrets or surprises in store for us, the facts are usually quite different. It all depends on your perspective, and if you change and vary your point of view, you will suddenly be amazed at how the landscape around you presents itself from a completely different angle. It doesn't take much, and the most helpful thing is probably to go a little higher up. The world looks much more impressive and exciting from above than from street level, which is why I am inevitably drawn to lookout towers and viewpoints.

And why would I want to resist? As I've just said, it's only from up here that you really get an accurate picture and begin to understand where you actually are. It is only from the top that you begin to realize your own position and quickly discover that it is not as important and significant as you previously thought.

When you no longer take yourself so seriously, it's suddenly much more fun to look around and explore. And you can find all sorts of ways to showcase the landscape around you. Put in the right frame, what you see sometimes looks like a postcard or a picture. With a little imagination, you can really set the scene for the world.

I've probably already mentioned a few times that I enjoy photography, and that's also the reason why I'm bringing you so many photos here. These photos show everything that I encounter on my daily commute from a wide variety of perspectives. It's exactly how I perceive it, and most of the time I don't need to arrange anything. It seems as if the world and everything in it wants to pose for me and stand ready as a motif. All I have to do is put myself in the right position to capture the subject from the right angle.

But many of the pictures we take are perhaps only effective for the photographer himself, who seemed to have a very special input at the moment the picture was taken. Later on, it is not always possible to explain exactly why you had to press the shutter button at that particular point. You can probably still feel it very clearly yourself, as I for one often associate something very personal and intimate with the places and objects that I later find in my photos.

Of course what see we in this picture is a lookout tower and that's exactly where I took the precious photos. But for the observer, what is just a view tower is so much more for me. Even though I've only been up there twice, this tower is firmly part of my here and now. I regularly have it in my field of vision on my daily journeys and am always very happy to see it and pass by here.

What makes it even more fascinating for me is the fact that it is right by the sea and you can look out over the city from above, but also over the large expanse of water in front of you. I've always been drawn to the sea, and not just on days like this, when the sky above you is a beautiful blue.

But when I stand here, whether a little higher up or very close to the water, I always get this feeling that I find sp hard to describe. A feeling like a mixture of joy and longing, like a melancholy murmur, in which air, wind and water, but also time and the moment are reflected. The past can suddenly be very close and become part of the present, but then very quickly be very far away again. The future is sometimes hard and sometimes light, and the I am are living in seems to be the most important thing that matters to me. And that's exactly why I find it so difficult to get away again.

But at some point we have to let go and move on. But we take something with us every time, a new insight or a new thought. It is important to turn and move a little around, and to change and adapt the aforementioned perspective. As already mentioned, it is always advisable to go a little higher up. Because that's where the little secrets and surprises sometimes reveal themselves, allowing you to nestle the world you live in even closer to your heart. It always seems to work for me, and that's why I will always repeat it. Sometimes here and sometimes there, but always intensely and full of emotion. Life and the world we live in can be really beautiful....
