NAME, AGE, AND NATIONALITY

Hi everyone, my name is Lazarus Nemieboka Thompson, and I am 23 years old. I am from Nigeria. I am an Okrikan by tribe, and I reside in Ogu/Bolo LGA, Rivers State. I lived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for almost all of my childhood, but later relocated with my parents back to my home town Ogu/Bolo where I continued my studies.

EDUCATION

Due to some reasons which I have no idea of even until now, I did not go to any nursery school as we call it in Nigeria, but I started my schooling from primary 1 in Port Harcourt. The name of the primary school which I attended is Adventist Nursery and Primary School, and to be frank, I really miss my classmates in that school.

I have actually forgotten some of their faces, but I still remember a few, especially my closest friend there called Odoni. I as well had a friend whose name is Willie Blessing, but something really amazing happened one day.

After about 10 years when I left the school, there was a day Willie Blessing paid a visit to my home town, and guess what, he is also is an indigene of the community, but lived in Port Harcourt for a very long time too. When I first saw him, I didn't really recognize him, but I had a feeling that he was one of my friends there in the school. So I met him, introduced myself, he did too, and we were so happy to finally meet each other again after 10 years.

We actually chatted for a very long time, and he introduced me to his sister who surprisingly was also a friend of mine in the current secondary school I was in as at that time. He told me he actually came for the Christmas holidays and would be going back after. I felt a bit sad though, but I made every moment with him count. On the whole, I was so happy to meet him, and I also hope to see my female friends from school too.

I am currently studying Computer Science and Informatics at Federal University Otuoke, Yenagoa, Bayelsa, and I am in my final year, 400Level. My area of specialization is Cyber Security and I really love it. The internet is where I live, so I fell in love with knowing how to protect where I live as well as help others from the hands of internet insecurities. At the time of this post, I have just a few months to wrap up.

FAMILY

I have two siblings, and I am the first child of my parents, followed by my younger brother, and then my sister. My parents are very lovely and they trained I and my siblings to the glory of God. We are all Christians by God's grace.

My dad has been hardworking, providing food for the family and putting us all in school, while my mum has been taking care of us all day long. A long time ago, we made a promise to our parents that we would all make them proud of having us and they hugged us tight and said; "We know you all will." It was a very wonderful evening.

Due to the pandemic last year and how things became really tough, my mum fell sick. She had been sick for over a year even before the pandemic though, and it cost my dad so much money for her treatment in the hospital until she recovered (Still before the pandemic). But during the pandemic, she fell sick again (not by the virus. She doesn’t go out, and we always maintained the covid19 protocols. Moreover, my community wasn’t infected by the virus), but then, suddenly she died after six (6) days of falling sick.

It was on the 17th of Oct; 2020, and we did her funeral on the 5th of Dec 2020 so we could all leave everything about the year 2020 and move on freshly with 2021. It was so painful to lose her. All I could think of was the promise we promised her, and now she’s gone. But by God’s grace, we’ve moved on with our lives.

How I became a Graphics Designer

During the lockdown last year, I learnt a lot online and graphic designing was one of them. I learn graphic designing from watching YouTube videos, and by God's grace, I can design logos, flyers, banners, and business cards.
