mmm. I have no such beliefs. If an organism is unable to perceive their toxic environment, then that organism will react in what become chronic manners. That the pseudo-cures may make matters worse, still doesn't mean that the organism would thrive until the toxicity is removed.

It tries - I'm saying that when it can't it has to know to change behaviour.

I think it does change genetically, as in epigenetics, we adapt to our environment as we go, not over 100's of years but instantly so we can survive. Behavior doesn't always come into it as there may be no options. But for sure we need to try to avoid poisons from killing us.
