Swiss chard is a plant whose taste I did not know until recently, but this year we sowed it in our garden and I have the opportunity to observe it quite closely.
To be honest, I didn't know how to use it until recently, but after making delicious tinsel and a pie with it, I now know it will be a part of our table.
In addition to growing in beautiful colors and often used as a decorative element in gardens, Swiss chard is also very useful.
Swiss chard is also called spinach beet or leaf beet. It is also considered a super food due to its high content of useful substances. It is rich in vitamins A, K, C, and from the group of vitamins B. It contains useful minerals such as: calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, copper and phosphorus.
- Lowers blood pressure;
- Protects against osteoporosis;
- It supports the work of the circulatory system;
- Improves brain health and eye health;
- It has antioxidant properties;
- Regulates blood sugar.
During the winter months, the plant must be protected because it may not withstand very low temperatures. For this reason we will place it in our small greenhouse. They say that in winter the plant continues to grow and with the small amount of light the leaves become even more tender and delicious.
